Oooh Have sung th Nelson Mass and the Mozart Requiem, and most of the ceremony of carols (odd time to do this?)

Love the C minor Mass....the Credo is one of the finest Choral works ever

the orchestration of the Nelson mass is fabbo BTW

Hayden isn't hard, I'd give it a shot if your sight reading is halfway decent (which I bet it is!)

I thought Ceremony of Carols is only meant for childrens choirs. I've never heard grown ups do it. Does it even have a tenor or base line?

What is the name of that accent like - that tells you to sing the words emboldened like that?

Britten was a fan of them.

Slubberdegullion Fri 27-Jun-08 20:27:38

you know a line over the top of the note.

Slubberdegullion Fri 27-Jun-08 20:47:25

Balulalow is very lovely though

Agree the Nelson Mass and the Grand Mass in C Minor, plus of course the Faure/Britten, would be my pick

You lucky frau envy enjoy!

I've sung the Ceremony of Carols in an adapted version for SATB.

Slubberdegullion Fri 27-Jun-08 22:04:25

Was it good Idris? I've been listening to the Vienna Boys choir sing in on You Tube and it is very lovely with just the pure childrens voices.

I like the harps too.

You and I have very similar taste in music Califrau - your first choices would be the ones I would choose too!

Did I ever tell you that DH and I followed your advice and went to the fancy dress party as a pair of flip flops!

The outfits were magnificent. I'll have to see if I can find a photo sometime.

I'll dig them out tomorrow and come back to this thread to show you.

It was hilarious!

The whole room went silent and then roared as we walked in. grin They weren't terribly easy to walk/dance in though!
