Margaret on the Guillotine by Morrissey

Kewcumber Sun 01-Jul-07 22:01:32

OK I think "I love you because (you look like Jim reeves)" might beat mine.

"99% of Gargoyles Look Like Bob Todd" by Half Man Half Biscuit.
(Bob Todd for any youngsters out there was a grey-haired, bulbous-eyed guy in Benny Hill's TV show).

CatIsSleepy Sun 01-Jul-07 23:23:36

oops was forgetting 'Some girls are bigger than others' by the Smiths. another good 'un.

UnquietDad Sun 01-Jul-07 23:44:20

Oh yes, HMHB have some corkers. "Outbreak of Vitus Gerulaitis", "Dead Men Don't Need Season Tickets, "The Light at the End of the Tunnel (is the Light of an Oncoming Train)"... And "Trouble Over Bridgewater" as an album title!

And don't forget the Pet Shop Boys. "You Only Tell me You Love Me When You're Drunk" and "I Wouldn't Normally Do This Kind of Thing".

mummytosteven Sun 01-Jul-07 23:46:25

"Milkman of Human Kindness" by Billy Bragg.

mummytosteven Sun 01-Jul-07 23:46:47

Or Elvis Costello "What's so funny about peace, love and understanding"

CatIsSleepy Sun 01-Jul-07 23:49:07

Work is a 4 letter word, the smiths...

How about 'There ain't half been some clever bastards' by Ian Dury and the Blockheads?

I also like 'There's a guy works down the chip-shop swears he's Elvis' by Kirsty McColl.

My BIL is in a Skiffle band. It is brilliant - they play at festivals and that sort of thing.
Years ago (before he met my sister) he wrote a song called "I'd Rather Go To Hell Than Spend Eternity With You"
I think that is a storming title ...
He wanted to play it at their wedding pmsl
She wouldn't let him [disappointed]

she was a GENIUS
have just been youtubing her - loads of good stuff
(made myself tearful watching Fairytale of New York though)

Kewcumber Mon 02-Jul-07 17:14:21

I saw her at break for the border in the basement in a rare later concert.
