Awful Auntie on stage - advice on suitability for my hyper-sensitive DS?

DS (aged 9) has hyper-sensitivity. He has been invited to see Awful Auntie on stage for a friends birthday (group of 6 of them going with parent - not me). Has anyone seen this show? He gets very upset with death/people being mean/bullying/strong themes. Trying to judge as he is not sure if he wants to go and is asking me what it is about. I've just read the book reviews but staged it could be different. Advice would be super, thank you, if anyone has seen it?

I took my niece before Christmas. From what you've said I'm not sure he'd like it. The whole thing is that the aunt is quite bullying to get the deeds to the house and the aunt contributes to her parents death (although you don't see that in the play). I think I'd avoid if it were me.

I don't think he'd like it given what you've said and that you won't be with him. The aunt is bullying and very shrieky in terms of delivery. Death is central to the plot both in terms of her parents dying and I think the boy is a ghost. It's been a while since I saw it.
