What can I do?

I've had to register since I lost my log in details when I changed to a new phone.

On my last username I had a thread about me asking for advice regarding making a statement about a domestic violence incident but it's gone so I think I may have posted it in 30 days only.

I've had a call from the police today to say they've had my ex in to make a voluntary statement and now the report will be sent to a senior officer to decide if he will get a caution or not but due to his previous good standing he likely won't.

I have some issues -

  1. He has lied several times in the statement. He said his violence came after we had an argument - we didn't, He saw me and flipped out. Plus he has played down punches to pushes which totally changes the level of violence.
  2. The police have not contacted the witness. I gave his details, the officer who took my statement referred to him by name but the investigating officer claims he doesn't know about him and his details are not on any of the paperwork.
  3. he has never been formally charged with violence or assault but has been questioned several times that I know of. But apparantly they have no details of any of these incidents due to the computer system being updated 3 years ago so he is seen to have never committed an offence and has a good character?!

Basically the way it will be put to the person who makes a decision on this is that it's my word against his. It will be 'a man with good previous character had an argument with his ex resulting in a bit of pushing and slight damage'. Whereas it should be 'a man with anger and aggressive tendencies lost control when facing his ex resulting in violence, criminal damage and verbal abuse as seen by a witness with good standing in the community'.

And there is nothing I can do about it.

Does anyone have any advice in this situation please?
Can I insist that the police contact the witness or is it too late?
