Read about the case of Timothy Evans for starters. There's too much risk of executing an innocent person.

I didn't read your link but it certainly sounds appalling from the title. But these people are not on every street corner, waiting to snatch your baby. The Daily Mail make money by peddling fear - it sounds like you need to stop buying into it and speak to someone about your anxiety.

Agree with peace. You need to see someone to deal with your anxiety. The fact of the matter is there aren't people on every street corner looking to hurt our children, not even close. Most cases of abuse against children is done by someone known and trusted tithe family.

It sounds like you need help with dealing with this. Anxiety is awful and there are definitely things that can make it better. Seeing your gp would get a good start.

The government reintroducing the death penalty won't help the way you're feeling. America has the death penalty and horrific crimes still happen there.

I think you need to get yourself some help, see you GP. And definitely stop reading the Daily Mail. A wicked paper that should be banned IMO.

Yes I agree you need some help.

Also as someone who doesn't believe in the afterlife I believe a life in prison without freedom is worse than death.

The death penalty does not act as a deterrent.

It would not prevent the crimes that are scaring you.

You need to deal with your anxiety, it's not healthy. As to why we dont have the death penalty for serious crimes, well as others have said already, the law often gets it wrong. There is something else to consider though. Supposing we had the death penalty and it apply to crimes other than murder, rape for example. The incidences of rapists murdering their victims would rise exponentially. Think about it. If you've just violently raped somebody and realise you could be facing a death sentence, why wouldn't you kill the primary witness? You've got nothing more to lose after all and it massively reduces your chances of being caught or convicted.

This man needs to be kept inside, he can't guarentee he'll get out in a few years. How likely is that when he used a banned item in prison and sent a picture of his feet to his 13 year old victims mother saying "they done yer boy" and threatens to rape and kill another child. I think we can safely assume he will NOT be out any time soon.

The death penalty is just legalised murder. And murdering someone for mudering someone else makes you no better a person. Just lowers you to their standards.
A life (where life actually means your whole life) is an appropriate punishment. I personally would find 25yrs plus of staring at the same four concrete walls the worst punishment of all. I go stir crazy at just 48hrs being stuck at home.

We don't have the death penalty because we don't descend to the level of people like this, thank goodness.

Remember the Moors murderers were active at a time when the death penalty still existed. It achieves nothing in terms of keeping children safe. At least this man is safely locked up, and his latest activities will ensure he stays that way for a long time.

Children are almost always hurt by the people who know them. They are far safer out with you on a street corner than at home with a step father. Statistically speaking of course.

I agree with others. You need help dealing with your mental health issues.
