I know there are a lot of people probably having the same issues at the moment with everything going on but I don't know how to turn things around Xmas Sad
My hubby works full time and is in a job which means he is away from home and normally only back 1 or 2 nights a week. We have two children dd is almost 4 and ds is 2. Because of my hubby's work hours I can't get a job and am a stay at home mom until they go to school and I can find a job.
We have been in debt for quite a few years and 2 years ago started a debt repayment plan. However since then we have also got ourselves in to more debt and it just seems like we are forever trying to just get the bills paid.
Obviously we need to take the blame for a lot of it as we are bad with money. My hubby doesn't understand that he can't just go to the shop every night and spend £20 on snacks ect and I manage the bills on my own and often change the dates ect so that we don't have to pay them that month which then puts us in a worse position the following month.
I really don't know how to get back on track with things? And I don't know if there's anything I could reasonably do from home to help with the incomings? I've tried Avon and many similar companies and they haven't worked for me
Any advice appreciated

Hi there,

Remove access to facilitating debt options so cancel overdraft, cards make arrangements to pay off and do so every month without fail.
Cut back on unnecessary spending, get your hubby on board... There are work from home options while kids are asleep if necessary. Sell items on eBay,Vinted etc. Start your own business. Stop buying stuff. Is there no way you couldn't work a night or two in a care home or supermarket? Can you retrain/upskill get student finance use it to pay off debt as the interest rates and repayment requirement is much better than other forms of lending.See Martin Lewis about this....good luck you do have options.Could you childmind?

Have a "financial meeting" with your husband and tell him what you have told us. Harm yourself with all your bills, debts amount and patience ...
I would apply for 2 Monzo cards ,one for you and one for the husband. At the start of the month transfer a sum for your husband spending money (once it's gone it's gone!) and on yours transfer just the money for the food shopping.Stop changing the dates on the bills, have a look around the house if there is stuff you can sell on Ebay .Any extra money should go into repaying the debts. Use supermarket points to your advantage, save for the double up etc ..and use for Birthdays and Christmas gifts/treats. Have a look for surveys sites (perfect for a couple of hours in the evening while keeping an eye on the TV),slow burning but possibly paying a bit more than Avon.

Thank you both! I will definitely sit down with my hubby and have a chat about our situation. Extra worry at the moment is if this lockdown affects his work. Thank you for the suggestions, I will make a list of them so I can discuss with my hubby when he's home from work x

How have you managed to get more credit/debt with a DMP?

Have you thought of doing surveys in the evenings while the children are asleep? It won't bring much but even if you earned £5 a day it would be better than nothing.

Look around your house and see what you can sell online on eBay.

Or do you have a creative side? Can you make things to sell on Etsy?

Reselling on Ebay can honestly be a great money spinner. I recommend searching YouTube for some great tips from those making a living from it- best ones I've found are Self Employed Student Mum, Daily Refinement, Hustle at Home Mom, Ralli Roots, nic and Andrea hills all great channels.

Once the charity shops start up again you'll be able to stock up - you'll be surprised how much you can resell for a good profit.

Good luck

Things won't improve until you learn to be good with money. No point earning a few extra quid on surveys if it will just get frittered away. You need the discipline.
