Alternative to Sky TV

We are looking for cheaper alternative to Sky TV, there seem to be a few options out there BT infinity, Now box or Amazon firebox. At the moment we are paying £83 per month for Sky Tv (no movies or sport), Broadband and landline.

I was wondering what others are paying and what alternatives to Sky other people have found?

I have Freeview and an Amazon Firestick for the TV After the initial purchase of the Firestick the worlds your oyster. All the apps are on the Firestick. TV Hub All 4, Spotify, Netflix, My5, Sky news, BBCiplayer, UK TVplay and loads of other apps the majority are free. Your going to save a lot of money.
I only have broadband as I dont have a land line.£ 20 per month. I have a VOIP home phone with Vonage you can keep your home phone number if you want to. I pay £8.50 a month no more no less and no line rental.

We pay £25 for landline and fibre broadband with talktalk.

We pay £19 for Sky.

We also have Netflix and Prime.

Errrr, why are you paying Sky £83 when you're not getting any sport or films!! Normal terrestrial TV is free . We pay £28 to vodafone for super fast broadband, use mobile for phone (£15 per month unlimited calls) and £7 for Netflix = £35 per month for TV plus £15 for calls etc............check your contract.

we pay £76 to talk talk for land-line broadband and TV with formula 1 channel, any cinema, and sports.

You are overpaying. I pay £53 for entertainment and sports, with multiroom for ds. You need to ring them up and get it reduced.

We cancelled sky and make do with Freeview and Netflix. No DC though

I pay £77 to sky for everything except sports, including the super fast unlimited broadband - you're overpaying, ring up and renegotiate

I'm paying about £55 per month for sky ( no movies or sport). I looked at changing. I think talk talk worked out slightly cheaper for a comparable package. Call them up and ask for a discount.

Now TV is a good bet. You can add entertainments/kids/movies for between £4 -£10 a month, and cancel them whenever you’re having a leaner month.

Their regular broadband is terrible, but the fiber is ok and quite cheap.

I just have a NowTV box with no subscriptions.
Then I occasionally rent films from Sky cinema if there's something I particularly want to watch.

My Sky broadband plus line rental and anytime calls (including to mobiles) is £30 a month, then I keep my mobile only for calls out and about so only pay £10 per month for that.

I pay £7 for Netflix, 22 for broadband from talk talk and just bought fire stick on offer for 29.

That's more than enough to keep us going, bloody CBeebies is on most of the time anyway.

I agree you def sons like you're paying sky too much for your package.

We have a freesat box - no ongoing subscription and you get more channels than freeview. We also have Netflix and Amazon prime, though we got prime more for the deliveries than the TV.

Virgin Media installed in my area a year ago so I got a good deal - £23 a month for tv and broadband (no sports or cinema). Game changer for me was no landline- haven't missed it at all and save about £18 a month. They also did me a sim only deal for £8/month as I kept my old phone. Also have amazon prime and Now tv - got a great deal on that at Xmas which was a years subscription to tv and cinema for £99 (saved about £115). Sky is massively expensive at £83 with no sports or movies - if you want to stay with them you can definitely negotiate that down. Good luck!

I have a free sat box, you can get the basic box for around £90 or a box around £180 that records and pauses live tv. plenty of tv for myself and 3 small dc, used to have the full sky package but after i seperated from my ex i realised that i never watched it! I pay £20 for unlimited internet but dont have a landline as have unlimited calls with my mobile. Might look at now tv in a few years once the boys get older.

I only have freeview. Don't pay for any TV other than the TV licence.

You could definitely reduce your sky if you want to stay with them. In our case we actually had to say we wanted to cancel and go through to the right department before they offered us anything. I was paying a bit more than you if i remember. I had already checked out a comparison with BT, phone, superquick broadband and TV for £60 a month. Best sky would offer £68 ... so I left and changed to BT. We already had Amazon prime and I've just added Netflix. Much better option for us. I like that BT give offers to existing customers not just new customers as per sky. Got a great deal on broadband for 18 months and we wanted a second box so reduction in broadband cost meant no increase in payment and a second box. Even sent us a Wi-Fi booster cable for upstairs.

I have virgin TV with TIVO record box - sky channels included (Sky 1, Comedy Central etc) + unlimited fibre internet for £27 a month!

We pay £28 a month I think for line rental, broadband and entertainment pass with nowtv. Another £9.99 for Netflix and we have an annual amazon prime account. We have a smart tv so we can watch all of those through that and the now tv box is hooked up to the tv in the family room. There's an Xbox in there too which we use for prime and Netflix.

Not having everything recorded takes a bit of getting used to, but pretty much everything is on a catch up channel these days and we tend to binge whole series. Halved our sky bill and I wouldn't go back to be honest.

Bloody hell. £93? I pay £35.00 for Internet and landline from EE.

Happy with free view channels and if we fancy a movie, I'll rent for £3.49 from Rakuten TV.

I couldn't afford that.

I have now tv and ours with phone broadband
Entertainment, movies and kids is £45.16 a month.
My eldest also pays for Netflix's 5.99 a month .
