Hello there.
I'm a long time lurker on Mumsnet but have finally joined so that I can start posting in this section. This year I am determined to change my attitude to money and start being responsible and in control.
My big, big problem is that my attitude to spending and budgeting gets screwed up when I am feeling down. A few years ago I lost a really close family member (she was young) and I've also had depression in the past. I find that things that make me feel low make me have a 'fuck it' attitude to my finances. In my right mind, I can fully understand HOW to budget and stick to it, but when I feel low it all just goes out of the window for a quick-fix spend or a big food shop with no thought for planning or budgeting. But I am determined to get this area of my life in check - it is becoming something I am quite ashamed of as I get my family further into debt. I was just wondering if anyone else has similar issues with their money, and if anyone has any tips on changing the mindset?
Thanks, FF
