What's the best supermarket for vaule if you don't want to shop at Aldi or Lidl

I can never find everything I need at Aldi/Lidl and I don't want to faff about going to two shops. I also want somewhere that delivers.

Which is the best of the big supermarkets - Asda? I am thinking Asda or Morrisons, definitely not Tesco or Sainsburys.

Or are they all the same and I really need to rethink Aldi/Lidl?

I have a specialised diet due to medical reasons so need somewhere with a big range of products particularly meat, dairy and vegetables, I'll happily eat own brands over branded food though, it's all the same to me.

We did our shop online at a few places to compare costs and selection (didn't actually check out). Tesco was the best for us, surprisingly.

I think I would go for sainsburys but it might be worth you do a monthly aldi and really stocking up - even every six weeks

Either Asda or Morrisons is worth a try, why not price up a basket in my supermarket.com and see how they compare on what you actually want to buy? You can easily set up accounts with both.

I do a big shop at ALDI and LIDL every month or so and stock up on toilet rolls, tea bags, cereal, etc. The rest of the time I shop wherever is most convenient on the particular day. This means I shop at Waitrose, Tesco, Sainsbury, Morrisons, M&S, etc.

We find asda the cheapest. There is only a morrisons where my parents live and if we need to call in for a few bits I find it ridiculously expensive. We don't find tesco too bad and use it for top up shops as it's the nearest to us. I don't like Aldi at all. We will call in for bread milk and fruit if we are passing but I won't get anything else from there, unless we are massively desperate for something and I can't be bothered going anywhere else. I do not buy any meat or frozen stuff from there because everything we have tried in the past has tasted awful.
I don't mind lidl to much but can never find what I need. We love the fresh bakery bit there though.

I shop at Tesco. I Collect the club card points and they do add up to a reasonable amount. Tesco home brands are good and if you look for the offers and discounts then it works out cheap.

If you can, go to a few different ones and look for their offers. You'll save more that way. We prefer Morrisons and Sainsbury's but that's only because they're nearest lol

Asda is cheap but fresh quality not that great and they are terrible for substitutions.

I use both asda and Ocado. Asda for most of my pantry staples, and some cheaper brand items (eg. Lurpak butter is much cheaper), and Ocado for fresh/excellent monthly offers - esp their half price or buy 1, get 1 free items.

I have a delivery pass for both. Asda has a half price monthly delivery pass for anytime right now for £2.50/month or £30 for the year.

Morrisons don't deliver to my area and I did check out a store a while ago and was unimpressed. Not cheaper, not a wide range and the fresh produce looked dodgy.

Aldi and Lidl are both good (particularly their meat/cheese selections, fresh produce not so much), but of course you have to go in store and if you have a very specialised diet they may not have all that you need.

If find it hard to beat the meat and veg from Aldi from any other supermarket bar Booths. But we mostly buy meat and veg from local butcher / greengrocer.

I agree that if your cash flow allows it then a good compromise would be to buy non-perishables and freezer food from Aldi/Lidl once a month - dishwasher tablets, laundry products, cleaning products, cooking chocolate, dried fruit, sauces, tinned goods etc. Then do a weekly shop for perishables at Asda or whereever.

I am amazed at the people who don't rate ALDI and LIDL. Most items are excellent quality and amazing value.

This is from someone who used to do most of their shopping at Waitrose....

Ours works out cheap at Tesco. I find Sainsburys expensive. But then I don't have a big on nearby so they prob stock more of the dearer stuff? I also love my clubcard points & fill up two cars with their petrol to get my points. I find when you shop online you spend less anyway. I can see my basket getting more expensive & then lose some of the bits I don't really need.

Nothing is as cheap as aldi - I have tried them all!
Asda and morrisons are the most reasonable.
Sainsburys is very expensive here.

I was a die hard Sainsburys shopper and like it for their clothing but that was only really because it was convenient to where we used to live. Then we moved and our nearest supermarket was Morrisons. I was staggered by the cost savings and very rarely do a 'big' shop at Sainsburys. I find the fruit and veg to be of great quality and have a good range of things in store. Also rate their Nutmeg kids clothing.

Can't stand Tesco and their layout so that's a no for me. Asda is ok, but some of their stuff I do find to be poor quality.

I've just started trying Lidl & Aldi though to compare as we could do with tightening our belts a bit. So far I'm impressed with Lidl, did a medium shop there to try a few things and topped up at Morrisons.

We don't have Morrisons near us - we have Aldi, new Asda, Sainsburys and Tesco.

Aldi (great), Asda (cheapest but poor quality I find). Sainsburys (slightly more expensive but their basics range is much better than all of the other value ranges), Tesco (much more expensive unless your shopping list is only "deals" and their basic range is awful).

So Aldi (mainly) and Sainsbueys. Another one staggered by anyone saying the quality is poor at Aldi.

Morrisons annoy me , I slwAys think I'll have a shop to see if I can save money and the last two visits I've found some of their fruit and veg is not priced at all and their toiletries are not priced clearly . Surely their objective is to sell their products at a good price the customer can see .

Ocado has been the cheapest so far for us.

I like Morrisons, I find they sell lots of things in their world section (gram flour!!) that I really struggle to find in some shops. We also like their cheese and onion 'cornish' pasties and the fish counter.

I did a shop yesterday that was largely Lidl and Sainsburys and was really surprised that on a good bit of the fruit and veg, Sainsbury's was cheaper.

I think, unfortunately, it's impossible to get the best deal ok quality & price if you only go to one place. Yesterday I went to two supermarkets and a local butcher.

For online shopping, I think Ocado is best on balance in terms of quality, service and price. The only thing they do that annoys me is meat - tends to be quite short dated.
