Hi we are a family of 6 2 adults then 4 children who are 15, 14, 11 and 10 ho much would you recommend as a food budget? I know everyone is different but we need to sort our finances out and needed an idea of what people spend/budget.

Also do people put money by for clothes or just buy when needed?
We are having to have some work done on the house so we are going to be really tight money wise.

Thank you for your help

A budget for anyone is really individual to your income.
Check what you've left after your house utility & regular payments are gone and look from there.
With teens, they can hoover the fridge so your budget can be more.
Ours is £100 + , that's 2 + 1 giant 17 yr boy. That's everything in there packed lunches toiletries etc... we have meat/fish every night & everything is from scratch.
I do budget to keep £100 if ds needs clothes - he's easy to please, next jeans band tops & a fleece. But big converse feet😂.

Family of 5, 2 adults, 16 yr old, 12 yr old, 5 yr old, 2 huge dogs & 4 cats.
We are around £550-£600 PCM, always have food left over though as I panic if things run out. Trying to reduce it a little though.
Clothes we don't budget, we just buy as needed, although I want to start budgeting for them.

We buy for me, dp, ds (2.5years)and dd (10months) and spend around £100 a week on food. That includes nappies, most toiletries and all cleaning stuff. We don't budget specifically for clothes, at the moment they are a pretty much constant expense due to the age of our dc. This month and next will be expensive as they both need sumer clothes.

My family is similar to yours. I spend £120 a week at aldi and we do £40 extra in bits at M&s or ocado that we could do without if necessary.

Clothes - I get basics from Primark as needed and my teens tend to have a new cheap outfit each month.
