Any good buys at Lidl?

Hi,

I have read through the Aldi thread with great interest and made a note of 'good buys'. We have Aldi and Lidl next door to each other where I live so it's is easy to go to both at the same time. I haven't really ventured into Lidl though.
Am I missing any good buys in Lidl?

When they have the halva in its delicious, but not a regular thing Sad

I've noticed they have cheap branded spirits on offer more than aldi.

I've never done a full shop in there though.

Their in store bakery is great for rolls & bread, Orange juice is lovely, milk and eggs are cheap, we like their mini magnum type ice-creams, pasta sauce, juice cartons for lunchboxes. Lots of basics are great there.

24 bags of crisps for £2.09. Having sampled all the flavours for you I can vouch they are delicious.

Great pittas and tortilla wraps too. Kids love the juice boxes 5 for 64p

steaks are sooo tastey and tender
baby wipes, nicer fragrance than aldi's rather chemical smell
fruit and veg
black sacks(10 for £1.79) are so strong, good also for garden rubbish
handwash
johnsons baby lotion always very cheap
non bio gel, wash up liquid, and dishwasher tabs are excellent
the bakery is fantastic and so cheap !

I much prefer Lidl to aldi for the same reasons as toenail, in fact I do a full shop in there most weeks.

Their luxury fruit and nut muesli is particularly good.

Their olive oil is really good. Cheap vanilla pods. I think their fruit/veg is good quality and cheap too. Their chicken is the best I've bought anywhere.

DH rates perlenbacher beer. Reckons its nicer than most of the big brands. I usually shop and Lidl and pick up bits from Aldi. Lidl is different in that it does stock a few known brands alongside its own. Their nappies are the best imo. They're trying to bring in some new ones which I don't thank are as good.

2 weeks in a row now I have been diddled in Lidl by being overcharged. First time was human error, yesterday was a scanning overcharge, both occasions I haven't noticed till I've left but I'll be on the ball next week. I don't live anywhere near it( go whilst kids are at swim lessons)so little point returning to complain. Not sure I'm finding the stress of the visit worth the saving.(overcrowded, rushed at checkout and can get competitive at the bakery!)

Our Lidl is always really quiet and empty, don't think people have caught on yet. This is one of the reasons I love it.
