Credit cards - which is the best one? No debt to transfer; just want cashback or free stuff

I'm wanting a credit card to pay for things to get the added protection that credit cards give. I'm fortunate enough to be able to pay it off each month, rather than run with a debt.

Am thinking I may as well get one that gives me cashback or goodies or whatever. Any recommendations?

Santander give cashback but it gets taken off next months bill so even though I earn about £10 a month I don't really feel the benefit iyswim. The card costs £24 per year but I signed up through Quidco and got £15 cashback so after the first month it had paid for itself.

We also have a Tesco card, which earns Tesco points. We use these for days out, train travel, dinner with dc, holidays and wine. Go to Tesco rewards to see what's available. Of the 2 I actually think this is a better card as I can 'see' my rewards.

I have one with a low APR (7% on purchases, 16% on cash). I tend to pay it all off in one go, but I'd rather have a low APR card than cashback etc.

American Express platinum - I don't know what percentage cash back it gives but we pay for everythingwith it and pay it off at the end if each month and we make around £200 a year with it (cashback is paid into your account annually, or you can get a higher rate if you opt to have your cashback in vouchers from various retailers.) Then we have an M&S mMasterCard which we use everywhere that doesn't accept Amex and get M&S vouchers from that quarterly.

If you holiday abroad, get a Halifax Clarity, as you get fee free cash withdrawals abroad. I only use this when away.

I also have BMI amex/MasterCard to rack up Avios (thats not available any more but similar are)

And a M&S one because I like the vouchers every quarter.
