I am totaly stuck. My dh thinks that despite being in total fiinancial mess it is ok to go on spending. we have had house on market for 3 yrs, dropped asking price bty 220k, now below last valuation by 150k, but no interest yet....no income as his business failed and i have been unable to get job although i have now signed on..... he still thinks we should pay 50 pw to a gardener to mow the lawns so it looks good for viewers....... why we cant mow lawns i do not understand but he is lazy and would rather use money he borrows then do it himself..we seem to be jut arguing about it all the time, then he gets cross and shouty amd i just cave in as i cant keep going. i tried to leave him but came back and it was ok for a bit but now just horrid again, we are stuck in a house that wont sell, in an area i hate.

sorry to rant but i feel better now... any advice welcomed

£50 a week, how big are the lawns?

sounds like he is in denial,

Have you had feed back from viewers?

What's the mortgage on the house?

I take it the lawnmowing is a symptom rather than the actual main problem.

Have you discussed him getting a job? If he's been running a business, he must have some transferable skills? Have you spoken to the bank about a payment holiday? Will you be able to apply for a few months of housing benefit on the interest of the mortgage? I'm sorry for your trouble; it's a scary time for so many people.

I think the lawns isn't the problem here, its the fact that he's in denial about what is going wrong.

I'm guessing that the house must be pretty much at the top of the market if you've made those drops already, so its going to be difficult to do something like rent it out.

I think you need to sit down with him with all of your finances laid out and go through it bit by bit to show him what the reality is.
