What really is good value in the pound shops?

I know they can be a bit shifty with pack sizes etc so it's not always as cheap as you think but I'm sure the following is ok.


Kids toothbrushes, pack of 5. (they're something like a £1 each in Boots).

4 for a £1 birthday cards. Not seen them much cheaper.

Huge bottles of bubble mix in the summer.


Anything else to keep my eyes open for?

Rescue oil. It's like bio oil but abut thinner and better absorbed its lovely stuff

Those toothbrushes are useless though. The bristles buckle after one scrub.

i always get my batteries from £1 shops. they probably don't last as long as duracel but the panasonic ones do the job and they are £1 for a pack of about 10.
you can also occasionally get nice picture frames for presents etc, and kids art/craft bits and bobs are usually quite good

also... Glowsticks!!! in our one they do a pack of 20 for £1. ive got a pack for ds's stocking!

Poundland do some good DVDs sometimes. ive got ds a few of them for xmas too - football skills ones, Horrible Histories, they do some good books in there sometimes too

They have a cocoa oil too which is fab as aftersun / after a bath.

Rescue Oil sounds promising. My skin prefers oil to cream, I shall give it a go.

bamboo the dc's are still toothbrush chewers, none of the brands last long with them at the moment. Although, yes, I think the poundland ones aren't the best quality.

I agree with the photo frames. I got 3 in there the other day and in each one put a pic that I had printed using Snapfish. I got 20 6x4 free but the size I needed was 7x5 so I had to pay the grand total of 57p for three for. So for £3.57, I got 3 presents of a pic of my family to give to mum, dad and my sister.

Some of the christmas decorations are quite pretty, I got a pack of three tree decorations that are shaped as a gingerbread man, house and tree.

Rescue oil is great. You can buy little bottles in £1 shop and bigger ones in the cheap chemists- Savers etc.
I use it for all sorts including on acrylic nails and stretch marks its c good I read about it on here

toiletries, you can get aquafresh that costs £2.80 odd in tesco for a quid, also radox bath.

Aerial liquid is £2.99 in our cheapy shop and £4.99 in tesco

Envelopes, especially parcel ones - a godsend if you are posting books etc. Far cheaper than post office.

Also nappy bags, they're supposed to be scented but they're not but really good value.
