Forgive me Mumsnet, for I have sinned; post your spendthrift confessions here

Although generally very frugal and getting better every day, I have certain irrational spendthrift habits. Suggestions on how to stop/mitigate these are welcome!

  • bagged salads; I like these because I can take them to work for lunch. Also they keep for ages and there is no preparation time. I do look out for offers on them, and try to find them reduced at the end of the day.

  • Diet Pepsi; has to be in cans, not bottles, and nothing else will do. Cheapest I've found so far is 4 for £1 at Poundland.

  • Laundry: I wear a lot of dry-clean only clothes for work. I also pay to tumble dry my sheets at the laundrette once a week because I hate having them hanging up in the flat (no garden or dryer at home).

  • I have never batch cooked anything. Can't be arsed.

Anyone else want to confess? Grin

I have two double buggies, but they serve different purposes (honest, they do!), and were a very good price, and will likely sell for more than paid for them. I am viewing them as 'rental'. They are the only buggies I own.

I bought a miele vacuum.

I flipping love it though so I don't care.

I'm really pennypinching the rest of the time.

I bought a Miele cat & dog vacuum too. It takes me a quarter of the time it used to to vac the house and remove the moggy fur from the carpets. I highly recommend them. I thought it was going to take the pattern off the carpet as it is that powerful!

I buy frozen chopped onions, peppers and mushrooms. They're a pound a bag each in Asda and save so much time I'm happy to pay. I only use them in cooked meals like stir fries as they're a bit soggy to go in a salad when thawed out. I buy the fresh variety for salads but all that chopping is a pain.

I also buy those vegetable steam bag portion things, Asda own brand. Me, DP and DS are often in and out at different times and it's an easy way to get a portion of mixed veg cooked as part of a meal without peeling, chopping, boiling etc.

Bagged salads here too although I've usually got a lettuce in the fridge.

I also buy those pre-cooked crispy bacon strips from M&S. I just can't be arsed pre-cooking crispy bacon to put in salads, sandwiches etc.

And moving onto personal care I have acrylic nails. None of your silly, ridiculously long ones. Short and neat, usually painted in muted, nude colours. My own nails are awful and split and break but acrylic ones and a professional manicure and paint job make my hands look sort of 'finished' and less like DP's, who's an engineer.

And today for the first time ever I had a spray tan. My local salon had them on offer for half price so I thought I'd try one out. I am usually a sort of pinky/blue/extremely pale colour but now I look a nice golden sort of colour. Not like an Oompaloompa or Jordan DP and DS assure me. I might have it done again in a few weeks Grin

I spent £13.40 on Amazon Blush Might not seem like a lot, but I'm on a very tight budget.

I bought a Mulberry handbag last week, does that count?

I have a cleaner- and I only work part time and I could mop my own floors. Seems such a massive indulgence.

I was looking at a sweatshirt on the Joules website today but thought nah, I don't need to spend another fifty quid on another sweatshirt.

Then I found the exact same sweatshirt for sale in Next. They only do one sort in two colours so it was an amazing coincidence and I was so moved by that stroke of good fortune that I convinced myself I could spread the cost on my storecard.
