You poor thing!

There is almost certainly a food bank near you- where do you live?

And more importantly, what food do you actually have in the house right now? How many people do you have to feed with what you do have?

It's well worth going to see your nearest vicar or priest. They can sometimes channel certain services. Nobody in a church will refuse you some food. I seriously would go and see your nearest one and see whether he or she can help you.

Which area of St Helens are you? Do you know who your MP is? They might be having a surgery today that you could call. It may well be worth ringing the MP surgery to explain the situation you're in.

Haven't you got an overdraft or credit card you can use?
At the end of the day they'll be tons of stuff reduced in the supermarket
Or ask if you could wash up somewhere in return for a meal

duchesse · 14/04/2012 12:37

If you are in St Helens North, and your MP is Dave Watts (Labour) his surgery day for the month are yesterday and today, so today would be a very good day to call.

Do you have a Salvation Army group nearby as I know they offer help at times. I saw on MN once that they literally paid for a weeks shopping for someone.

I hate pay day lenders but in an emergency they are useful and will usually put the cash in on the same day. They are not ideal though.

Provident will lend rapidly too usually within 24hrs.

It's shit isn't it.

Will the food bank not deliver a parcel to you. It's scary being that broke Sad

Yes, reecemummy, you must ring them! They are run by volunteers anyway so the chances of someone coming your way anyway is quite good. Which is your nearest food bank? There seem to be several in Liverpool. Please go to see your nearest vicar or priest or other person of religion though. Even your nearest mosque should be able to find some food for you. Please keep posting here- you mustn't be alone.

hi not sure about salvation army will google them now
i cant even get a loan of a payday lender or provident i have really bad credit
yeah its awful i have never been like this before
and no they wont deliver as im not in a rural area ie not many buses etc

Vent away, it's scary and sometimes it helps to rant a bit.

Please, whatever you do, DO NOT get an emergency loan. That is NOT good advice at all. Those loans have abusive rates of interest and you can never get free of them.

Much better to take your little boy round to the nearest church and find some help.

nataliejaynee · 14/04/2012 12:52

hi think when i googled it was one in knowsley but will look again now as last time i did only one came up chances are they could have added more
im going to go round to my church but if i remember rightly when my lo got christened the priests main church was in sutton not the one round the corner from me dont think he will be there worth a try though

Hi NatalieJayne. I hope you don't mind but I just put a call out on the MN local board for Liverpool asking if anybody could help you. Somebody might have some idea how to get you local help.

doormat · 14/04/2012 13:02

social services can help in an emergency situation, just call the CADT out of hours...they should be able to help...or at least point you in the right direction..if not walk into nearest police station and ask if they can help you
