Anyone doing this?
For those who don't know it's a challenge to write 50k words in a month. This year it starts on 1st November.

YAY me too me too (oh, and it starts on 1st November every year )

I've completed it two years now, but both novels suck (the second one a little less than the first) but I have a FAB idea this year... this year is going to be The One.

I like the idea of making some serious headway in a month so I think I'll give it a try.

I kind of did it 2 years ago, before DD came along. I was living in Boston at the time, and there were NoNoWriMo write-ins every week. I didn't start exactly from scratch, but I made 40,000 words in the month and completed my draft before Christmas, so I'd say it was a success for me, even though I didn't make 50k in the month.

Don't think I'll be doing it this year, but I have an idea that's pretty well ready to go, so it's possible if I get totally fed up with my current re-write.

I planned to do it last year, had a thread on here and everything, but DD was only 3 months old and it really wasn't practical. I have a better idea this year. Might consider it but am now back to work FT and struggling to fit everything in as it it.

I've tried this two years in a row, but this year I've got a bit more time on my own, so might even get it finished.

Psychobabble - When you've finished you download the story into their word counter and it gives you your total. IIRC there is some kind of scrambling element to it and no-one else can read your story. If you want to you can usually add some of the story to your profile if you want other people to read it.

I've done NaNo for the past 2 years and completed it. I think the 2nd year was much more difficult as you become a bit more complacent once you know that you can do it IYSWIM.

Not yet. By the time it got to the end of November I wanted a break from them. I re-read the first one last year and it was actually a lot better than I'd remembered. I wouldn't mind doing a bit more with it when I get a chance.

I think realistically, you have to plan around 2hrs of writing a day somewhere. Mostly I'd finish my word goal for the day in about an hour and a half, but there were days I ran drastically over, so it gives you the leeway.

The last two times I was successful, I managed by getting up an hour earlier than the rest of the household to get the bulk done while everyone else was asleep. I was very sleep deprived at the end of it, but I had 50,000 words to make up for it

O god, I've signed up for this and am hard pushed to find half an hour per day

I signed up because I liked the tutor running it (did one of her workshops when pg with dd2) and as it turns out, she's handed it over to her boyfriend

Anything more than 500 words per week will be an improvement though, so worth doing anyway??

Have changed my mind and signed up. I have an idea, some sketchy characters, and a list of scenes. It will be interesting to see if I can boost my words-per-day output by that much.

list of scenes, good idea, haven't been too sure how to prepare. Also have characters and a situation to put them in, but thats about it.
