I’ve got a free trial to scrivener and I love it. I’m about 2/3 way through my novel, and not sure whether it’s worth keeping it when it expires - anyone think it’s worrhwhile for the editing stage or just helpful for the writing?

Scrivener is great for editing, it means you can swap chapters around with ease if necessary and keep your editing notes as part of the document.

It's worth seeing if there are any discounts. In ye olden days they used to do 50% off for nanowrimo writers, for example. Not sure if they still do.

I also use it for editing, up until the point I send work off to my agent (then I move to Word).

Thanks, that’s helpful. I’ve found a £10 off voucher, and they’ll do a deal for some nanowrimo entries but not all.
I’ve got 10days left so I could speed write to fill those up maybe...

Scrivener is bloody marvellous. I have the Mac version and it's saved my sanity. I love it so much I wish I could use it in my day job too. It never collapses under the strain of too many versions, fairly intuitive, snapshot function excellent, ability to move scenes, make notes. It's worth every penny and more.

Only thing it's not good for is spell check and that final polish. I export to my kindle e-reader for read throughs, and export to word for submissions.

I use it. As others have said it's great for editing, you have the chapter files down the side so if you're writing and suddenly think that doesn't fit with what I wrote in chapter x you can flit back. You can easily add chapters. I love it

If you find it useful i guess it's best to carry on. I envy you, as I couldn't get my head round it at all and found it profoundly unintuitive
