Do you mean kdp, Kindle Direct Publishing? There are no charges to authors. You, the author, set your selling price. Amazon takes a cut, and VAT comes off, and the author gets what's left.

The publishing process is quite straightforward. The website takes you through it step by step. You just have to pay attention to all the detail.

I've been publishing with kdp for a few years and been pleased with the experience. The main advice I'd give is to make sure your product is as good as you can make it, set your price realistically, and keep up the momentum by producing new stuff regularly.
