New to Mac - voice recognition and scrivener advice please

Hi fellow writers. I'm mired in the first draft of a YA novel and looking for advice.

After the 3rd laptop dying within 8 years I've just bought a Mac. Gulp. I was using dragon speak on my PC but I hear it's not as good on a Mac. I read that you can download extended Apple dictation, or something like that, for free. Has anyone used it? I've put Word on my Mac and my computer repair place tell me they have rescued all my old word documents and I plan to continue to write in Word.

I have been tempted by Scrivener for years but would want to dictate onto it somehow - so again has anyone any advice/experience of doing this on an Mac? Or would I end up still dictating in Word and then transferring stuff over?

Thanks for any advice.

I dunno, but I have both on my mac - I'll try and check it out for you later today and get back to you?

Thanks FTFOAFOSM I've played with dictating onto Word, and Pages, today, using downloaded Apple enhanced dictation and it's working well so far, so just the question whether it will work on scrivener.....Thanks if you can advise.

Sorry - I completely forgot about this, but I've just checked it and yes, it will read out highlighted sections of text, so you should be fine with Claroread. I couldn't check the Dragon software (3) as my version doesn't appear to work with my version of OSX (El Capitan), but I've just looked it up and Dragon 5 should be compatible. Hope that helps a little!
