My lovely Dad died in 2000 and left me with the notes for his true Cornish crime book. I have finished it (yes I know it has taken me a while).

I now have his completed book in Microsoft word format what do now?

Do you want to get it traditionally published or self published? If the latter, are you looking to get a few copies for friends & family or actually sell it to the general public?

He wanted it published properly however I am not sure what to do to go about that. I have been wondering about publishing it as an ebook. It's not about making money, it's about getting it out there. He didn't want to spend money getting it self published though :)

Hope this all makes sense.

I'm not an expert on self publishing but it can work really well. There is a thread on this board about it. I'm sure the posters on there will have some great advice.

If you want to go down the traditional route, get the Writer's and Artist's Yearbook from Amazon. It's got everything you need: where to send it, how to send it and what to expect. Good luck!

You can do print on demand with Amazon self publishing so there are no set up costs and you can have a paper book as well as an ebook.

You can self publish with Kindle Direct Publishing - I released an ebook through KDP and it's done much better than I expected! - and for paper copies I can recommend CreateSpace. Best of luck and what a lovely thing for you to do for your dad.
