Urgh. 60K words, redrated, edited, redrafted. I just can't write the ending. What do I do?

LoopyLooplaHoop Tue 04-Jun-13 15:11:02

Idiot. Redrafted.

So how far have you got with the ending?

Do you have it drafted out scene by scene, for example, with a clear outline of what the scene is about, who's in it, the location, the atmosphere, etc etc?

LoopyLooplaHoop Tue 04-Jun-13 15:27:16

I did have it planned scene by scene, but it doesn't seem to want me to write it like that! Everything I write has a slightly different outcome, which takes me back to the planning bit.

So could you try writing it like it seems to want to come out as, and see what happens?

LoopyLooplaHoop Tue 04-Jun-13 15:43:53

Just write? Eek!

The problem is that I have a strange structure, so the action is sort of perforated with different articles etc. I've been using quite a complicated system to make sure that the articles are relevant to the storyline, and feed the info needed. I'm not sure I can wing it.

LoopyLooplaHoop Tue 04-Jun-13 15:44:41

Although, I suppose I could just write the story part, then add the articles after?

GrendelsMum Tue 04-Jun-13 15:51:29

Yes, try writing the story part, and then add the articles after.

Thanks Grendels. I'll give it a go. Tomorrow (enough for today, sick of it now!)

Yes, turn off your inner editor.
Try to write it really fast without worrying about whether it might not match up with what it needs to do. Then the chances are that even if it doesn't quite work, it will be partly right, and then you can use the bits that do work to help you fix the rest.

That's it. I did the first 50 with nano, and found that really easy, but did edit as I went along. But it has been SO edited now, I can't bear to even think about it any more.

Will just write. Thanks both. smile
