Summer camps - AIBU (Ireland)

So I booked the kids in for a Cul Camp (outdoors).

My mum lives near us and sometimes helps out with childcare, a couple of hours a week kind of thing. She has been cocooning and still stays at home almost all the time.

Anyway, she thinks I'm crazy to have put them down for a camp and thinks they should stay at home all summer.

Cases are really low in our area, the camp is outdoors amd the children are really missing their friends. They understand they will have to keep their distance from their nana during and after the camp and still want to go, it's just a week, then however long she wants to isolate from them after.

AIBU to send them?

I don't think you are aibu... A second wave & possible lockdown is inevitable. Let the kids enjoy their camp & fresh air .. who knows what way schools will return in September. Let them enjoy seeing their friends.

Send them. They need it. Everyone involved is following the guidelines.

I would be a bit uncomfortable about indoor camps at the moment. I would be ok with an outdoor one (if numbers stay low in the area).

Dr Mike Ryan was on about personal risk assessments...a crowded shopping centre is higher risk in my opinion.

Mine are booked into Cul Camps for August too. Go for it! Outside will be fine. If numbers change, for the worse, they'll probably cancel camps. But as things stand mine are going. They have missed enough!

I'm sending mine. They are going to the summer project on the 20th July for 4 weeks. They can't wait.
