(3 Posts) I've fallen in love with the Irish melody St Columba, which is one of the tunes for the English hymn 'The King of Love my Shepherd is'. It was one of the Irish airs transcribed by George Petrie, who preserved a lot of traditional music for posterity. But are there Gaelic words for it, does anyone know? I've tried searching online but can't find anything, though I've found a few references to the fact that there is/was a Gaelic folk song with that tune. Does anyone know and could you very kindly point me in the right direction to something written or recorded? If I even just knew the Gaelic title I might be able to search more productively.
The original words may have been lost forever but a magazine called Ireland's Own often publishes queries from people looking for original songs.

If you're on Twitter might be worth a shot?
Thanks, @JaneJeffer, that's a great idea. I'll give it a go. Much obliged to you.
