Coronavirus in ROI - how worried should we be?

Just that really, with number of confirmed cases at 13 now.

My worry is mainly that the health service is in such dire straits that it won't be able to cope with even a small number of cases.

What are thoughts on the official response? Should they be cancelling the St Patrick's Day parade now? I'm surprised they haven't already.

They absolutely should cancel all St Patrick’s day events. I can’t believe they haven’t. It’s all about money. I’m definitely not going to panic about this but I think our country will not cope if this spreads. Our health service is already stretched.

I agree. People come from all over the world for Paddy's Day. It's madness.

Where are all the cases? I'm only aware of the 4 in the West who came back from Italy. Not sure where the rest of the cases are?

Cork has cancelled their parade.

I think st patricks day should definitely be cancelled.

However as for how worried you should be? Not at all because that won’t change the situation a single bit. Only give you additional stress that I’m sure you don’t need.

Yes saw the other thread, sorry, thought it was more about NI.

We have a 7 month old DD and DH is seriously panicking. Doesn't even want me to go to playgroups or baby swimming any more 😩

It was reported that there’s been a drop in the numbers on trolleys in the last few days-does that mean that people are avoiding A&E unless absolutely essential, I wonder?
