Hi there, looking for recommendations for primary schools in Tubbercurry. I've looked on Schooldays.ie but not a clue about which might suit us. My daugther is 8 and would be starting in a new school by the time she is 9. She is in year 4 in the UK, so equivalent would be year 4 in Ireland if memory serves. We are not religious if that is useful to know.
I am a single parent as well- if that makes any difference... Thanks in advance.

Hi there
Most local primary schools in this area will be linked to the local parish, so they will be Catholic schools with a Catholic ethos. There is Holy Family National School in Tubbercurry which is 1 form entry. There are also lots of nice little primaries in a 5 mile radius of the town. Moylough is closest . It is smaller than Holy Family so may have some mixed year groups. Bunninadden NS is smaller again and definitely has mixed year groups, which is typical with most little village schools. If you don't mind driving, there are Educate Together primary schools in the bigger towns of Sligo and Ballina which are a 30 minute drive (longer with traffic). Educate Together do not have a religious ethos and are not linked to the church, they can be difficult to get into though. There will be no problems as a single parent. This is a standard family unit even in small village schools.
Good luck with the move and I hope this helps :)

Thanks for commenting that is really useful. Yes, we have started to look at educate together as a possibility as well. I am hoping to visit them next time I am there looking at houses.
many thanks
