Can you solve a puzzle for me please? Why do they sing two different songs at the beginning?
Because the players are from both Ireland and Northern Ireland lydia
Rugby Union is one of the few sport where the island of Ireland play as one. So Ireland’s Call is the official anthem, but when playing at home they also sing the Irish national anthem.
The two songs is a political thing relating to Ireland’s past. Well the National anthem is the political one and Ireland’s call is the non political option. But they sing both at the rugby. I think that’s right anyway......
