(47 Posts)Just after their refurb and extension in Belfast! Crazy 😦
I'm in Scottish Provident Building looking over Fountain Street, been watching it develop all morning. They've widened the cordon up to Lunns (all stores closed in between) and the back section of the roof has all come down. Looks like it'll be a total loss.
It's crazy. I think it might be out now ? I wonder if the new materials were flammable.
Ones working in castle court have been told to go home!
I thought the clock had come down but it seems to still be there
We can see the back of the building and there was like an annex on the roof which housed (I imagine) the clock workings, and it's completely collapsed. Really, really hope they can save the facade.
Looks like it's back on fire again!
There's wee fuckin rats busking outside the building singing fire related songs.. building burning in the background!
Some people have no shame or respect for the building or jobs lost today.
Was just in Dunnes and they have closed their fitting rooms in case they're evacuated. the cordon keeps getting bigger. Its a lovely building so I hope it can be saved.
Dunnes is a good wee dander away!
Castlecourt has closed for the day now as well.
I'm watching the Belfast Telegraph live video. The fire appears to now be down to the 3rd floor..not good
I know! If it reaches the clothes then everything is gonna light up real quick!
The whole place is a gonner now. Hope they can save the building but it's not looking good.
Oh NO it would be terrible if they lost the whole lot. It's been there my whole life .
We're in town, we had planned to take DD to McDonald's and the Disney Shop today.
Fire spread to the 3rd and ground floor behind the front doors
@WhatAmISupposedToBeD
@TheCraicDealer my sister said the radio were blaming gas?
They mentioned gas canisters in the article which would make sense if they were laying tar. I'd imagine it'll be a while before the cause is identified for definite.
Holy fuck
The fire was pretty much out over an hour ago, can't believe the state now! It's fucked like, everything inside the store is flammable.
It's awful to see such a beautiful building go up like that. Dear love the staff as well, fairly clear it'll not be open for a long time.
The McDonald's in Victoria Square is gone!
Cordons are being extended and buses are who knows where.
Yup! Poor staff indeed. Aparently the managers were in tears at the Debenhams cafe.
Especially with Christmas approaching
