Start using Mumsnet PremiumRTB Tenancy issue. Advice needed
(3 Posts)My Father has a house in Rep of Ireland he wishes to sell. He has provided the notice of termination to tenant(which expired 3 weeks ago) who refuses to budge. The reason is that they need to be 'forced' out rather than leave willingly so that they will then go top of the list for a council house.
We were told to open a dispute on RTB website. This could take months is that right? My father wants to simply change locks or take them to court but i think that will be costly as opposed to RTB dispute.
Tenant has been in 3 to 4 years and father has already placed house on market.
What are his options here?
Sorry, I don't know, but any time I've phoned the prtb they have been very helpful so I'd suggest that first.
Thanks I'll give them a shout.
