Malcolm Mc Arthur at Alan Shatter's book launch

It makes me sad ( and mad) when I see that Malcolm Mc Arthur of GUBU fame, convicted murderer of Bridie Gargan is out and about. Photographed at a book launch - as a member of the public in a bookshop, it is in the Irish Independent today.
He was never charged with Donal Dunne's murder in Offaly, despite killing him when he went to 'buy' a gun from Donal Dunne.
I am so sorry that the Dunnes never got justice and to my mind it is wrong.
It must be truly heartbreaking for them.

It might be law but it's not justice.

I didn't know he was let out... How on earth do families cope with knowing someone who murdered their family member is out and about living life?

I don't know how the Dunnes cope knowing he was never even charged with Donal's murder.
Could somebody explain how that can happen please ?

I just felt so angry for the Dunnes in particular when I saw that murderer being given yet more publicity. They fought so long and hard for justice and didn't receive it.

Could any Craicnet lawyer explain to me why he was not charged please?

I never understood it either. I found this article just now, it seems to be quite good in explaining what happened, I think.

You might get law in an Irish court but you mightn't get justice. Sad
