Does anyone have an idea what the going rate for a christening donation to the priest is? He's a family friend and I don't want to be insulting, outright ask or go overboard. Can't find any suggestions and none of my friends have had ones recently. Thanks in advance!

I put £30 in an envelope for the priest when mine were christened.

Pants. I didn't even think to pay! My dad goes to church weekly and always donates money so I thought it was free!!

€50 is 'the going rate'.... I've had three and we paid this each time and I know it's what my family have paid too for nieces and nephews.

Thanks all, €50 it is. fabulous when I asked DM what she thought it was she realised she never paid at mine. It's the same priest who's doing DSs one so we might double it with an apology from herGrin

My dad goes weekly and pays a reasonable amount to the church. I don't go to church as I live in a different country but now I feel bad. Next time I am home I will slip a few quid in the tray ...
but mine was part of a Normal service. I have twins so should I pay double or is this double guilt ...

I'd go with €50/60
