Well done Annalise Murphy you did us proud. You almost got gold.
So sorry for Katie and Michael Conlon. I know nothing about boxing ( nor sailing) but apparently they were robbed by bad decisions by the judges.
The ticket controversy deepens with the arrest of our OCI president.
Shane Ross should be much tougher re an investigation. Just withdraw the funding until an independent investigation takes place (which includes a journalist doing the investigation).
It's not rocket science.

Poor Katie's had a rough year in her personal life, her father ran off with one of her friends or something like that! But I don't think she was robbed. She lost.

Conlan on the other hand was definitely and absolutely robbed. Amateur boxing just seems so utterly crooked. With the right to appeal decisions withdrawn this year. Very dodgy. I don't blame him for his outburst. What a waste of 4 years training!

Well done to Annalise Murphy. And there's some (cute) hurdler guy Thomas Barr who came first in his heat and set a new Irish record. I think he's racing tomorrow. So best of luck to him!

Squoosh I didn't know about Katie's dad but did wonder why he was not around.
The plot thickens re the ticket touting.
I wonder why they are touting over priced tickets when so many events have empty seats. Perhaps it was for opening and closing ceremonies.
On another aside, quite a few nasty anti Irish comments on the DM website re the boxing match and Michael Conlon's post match interview.
If it was a person of a different colour or creed the sentiments expressed by some would not be tolerated on the website.

Also they have removed some of the boxing judges and referees for wrong/poor/fixed results but the results still stand. Conlon was robbed.
Unfortunately having had a boxer excluded for doping and now the president of the Irish Olympic committee stand down mean we have no first power in our response.
Despite some great other performances and so far 2 silver medals it is not a games for Ireland to be proud of. Some amazing Athletics performances being overlooked.

Shane Ross was representing the Irish taxpayers who help fund the Irish Olympic organisation.
He needed to grow a pair and tell Pat Hickey exactly what the Irish government representing the Irish people wanted done. Not to be dictated to by Pat Hickey.

It has been reported that Mrs. Hickey said her husband had returned to Ireland.
I wonder if this is true.

I find it strange that the Brazilian authorities take ticket touting so seriously and yet there have been attacks and robberies on the Olympic athletes. Surely the prevention of these attacks should be higher up the list of priorities for police chiefs.

Apparently the Rio police have asked the American athletes who (allegedly) were robbed to stay in Rio pending inquiries, and there's a suggestion that the story was made up. I say allegedly because NBC broadcast cc coverage of them entering the Olympic Village residence apparently carrying phones and wallets despite their claim that theirs had been stolen. There's been time to get replacements of course.
