Best Irish crisps

Inspired by the thread in Chat where all the Irish people said Tayto (I was a bit surprised by the lack of love for King or Perri), what are the best Irish crisps? Snax were amazing before they changed them. Chipsticks are the best thing ever for a sick stomach. Mighty Monster Munch are great only if they're a pack with loads of flavour. Bacon and bean Postman Pats were savage Grin.

King, cheese and onion. Not a tayto fan at all myself

The classic tayto cheese and onion, we did the tour of tayto castle last year - all the crisps you could eat - fabulous.

5ives! I'd forgotten about them. My best friend and I used to go to our Irish dancing class every Wednesday with a packet of 5ives and a Smiley bar each. Oh, and a bottle of Cadet Grin

Tayto would be my very last choice.

King are better, though I'd opt for either McDonnells or Keogh first. With Keoghs edging slightly into the lead.

Meanies, MIL buys them for the kids and they don't like them. Perfect!

Have King crisps changed in last year or so? Dh reckons they have and are not as nice.

The honesty box at work had McDonnells and they're very nice but a packet of salt and vinegar Hunky Dorys are the business

I am a Tayto cheese and onion woman myself but my children love O'Donnells.

When I was young I adored Sam Spudz tomato sauce flavour crisps. Not sure they were particularly Irish though.

I could be all nationalistic but feck it. Red Doritos are the best crisp type ever.

The cheese and onion you get in Tayto Park are particularly delicious. We went in a large group and they were literally throwing multi packs at us when we were leaving. Tayto heaven Grin

Burger bites!! When I was in secondary school, Perri had Worcester sauce crisps that were amazing. I can actually remember the first time I had a pack of tayto salt and vinegar and the shop I bought them in, so I think for me, they have to be the winner!

Tayto Cheese & onion for me! Just add a bap & butter for a nice square meal, (with chips obvs Wink)

However, nobody has yet mentioned that Tayto from up North & Tayto from down South taste completely different. Opinion is split but I prefer the Norths and you can still get 5ives & burger bites in the spar-they might be my 2nd fave

Also they've got bacon flavour spirals now too in big bag size. They taste likes 5ives & so addictive

Oh, burger bites! I'd completely forgotten about them. Banshee Bones are fucking fantastic also.

evelynj Southie cheese and onion Tayto are better than Nordie, but Nordie smokey bacon are better than Southie.

I got ham flavoured Tayto up North recently. They were weird. Those little salt and vinegar fish and chip crackers are well worth the drive to Newry though. My local Dunnes has started stocking them, but only in the red sauce, brown sauce and curry flavours Shock

Tayto cheese and onion or Rancheros.

Ludog you took the crisps words right out of my mouth. Tayto cheese and onion and rancheros are the best. Can i add original flavour hula hoops and tayto waffles too.

The curry ones are great, but so calorific. Tayto here now have Ulster fry flavour, vegetable roll flavour & curry chip flavour! Also wuster sauce (onion) rings but to me they just feel like they should taste of onion. It messes with my mind! I have around 50 people coming to my house today for a bbq so I should really go make some coleslaw and stuff. May just put out lots of tayto c&o

Also northie tayto Ch&Onion better but southie cadburys is superior!! Turkish delight or honeycomb crisp (something like that anyway)

Tayto cheese and onion from the Coolock factory. Across the road from where I lived. Right by the Cadburys factory. Lovely smells!

Coolock factory closed now unfortunately.

Perri were good. We used to be able to buy them at lunchtime at school. One particular teacher sold them in the cloakroom. She taught in Irish only. "Ceann amhain, ma se do thoile" is vaguely what I remember we had to say to her!

Tayto cheese & onion. I loved the factory at Tayto Park. I could have stayed all day watching the crisps going along the conveyor belt!
