Mattress for Toddler in single size bed

Hi I was wondering if anyone can help with the above on what type of mattress I should buy for my 2 year old as he is moving into a standard size single bed soon.

There are so many options out there which is the best one? Can anyone suggest anything?

i'd go for a cheap one and then get a decent one when he is older and unlikely to have accidents when getting dry at night.

Which sort of cheap one should I go for coiled or foam or latex or ....?

We bought cheap Ikea mattresses for the bunk beds when DS1 needed a bed to make room in the cot for DS2.
Not the most comfortable sleep for an adult, but for a 2 stone child it's fine. And we'll replace with a decent mattress in a couple of years when we're definitely over the bed wetting stage.

The guy in the bed shop told us not to worry about spending a lot on a child's mattress, as they don't lie on it with the same weight as adults or need the support so much.
We did get a pretty good one in the end though, so that it is comfortable for adults. We were thinking of having guests in the bed occasionally, but do play musical beds in our house - so just as well.
We did get one of those waterproof mattress covers though.

We just bought new mattresses for our 2 yo and 6 yo.

We went to an independant shop. The lady recommended the cheapest for DS2 and the next oen up for the 6 yo. She said 2yo would need to upgrade at about 6 and DS1 would need to upgrade when he is 10.
