Which travel cot would you recommend?

We're making plans to test and review travel cots and we'd love to know which ones you'd recommend.

If you've been impressed with a travel cot you've used in the past two years, we'd love to hear about it. Your comments will help us to create a shortlist of cots to test and recommend to new parents.

Chico lullago.

Used it as a main cot for my twins for the first four months. Mattress is softer and more durable than usual. Has two height positions and makes a good play pen too.

Only downsize is it isn't as compact as others.

Little life arc if you've got to carry it / take it on a plane
Otherwise the cheap folding Argos ones are fine

Tent type ones. We've got a littlelife one.

I hate the playpen type ones with a vengeance, they're impossible to put up and take down and after a while the coating on the poles breaks down and goes sticky forever. I spent a long time trying to wash a second hand one, it was just sticky forever.

Baby Bjorn. I know it's pricey but it's so bloody good. Now on its third occupant and still good as new.

The cheap basic ones are perfectly fine. I bought a Nuna Sena which has a fab mattress and is the easiest assemble I've used but it is enormous when collapsed and doesn't justify the price tag.

I am a childminder and would say the cheap ones are not really any different to the expensive ones . For babies who are likely to be only in them a very short time I would buy the cheapest.

My own Ds was going to be in one for about 6 months so bought s mattress that fitted in it.

If anyone finds one longer than normal, can you let me know? My very tall 2 year old is outgrowing hers but it's needed regularly at family's houses as they are not toddler proof and she just wouldn't be safe in a bed yet.

There are a few on the market that are the more rectangular dimensions of a standard cot. Would that be big enough?

@INeedNewShoes she's in a cot bed at home which is fine and 140cm but I can't find any that length as a travel version.

Ah no, I see. The ones I've seen are the length of a standard cot (120cm) rather than cotbed size.

Cuggl deluxe superlight travel cot. I don't think it's as small as stated, the baby Bjorn, but it's a very good price and packs up pretty small

Red Kite. Brilliant. Cheap too. We bought an extra mattress (foldable) which makes it comfier, as we do a fair few weekends away. DS is too big for the cot now, but we still use the mattress with the base from the travel cot, with a pillow, when we go away.

We have a hauck dream n play and it's much easier to put up than other travel cots I've used e.g. In rental places etc. Whether that's down to age remains to be seen. I like that there's a little door to get in and out with too.

Other than that I agree, we close a cheap basic one because they are all pretty much the same, couldn't see any features of the more expensive ones we wanted to pay more for.

We have got a folding mattress for it and I like that it uses standard sized sheets.

Sueshoes once my eldest was out of a travel cot he had a ready bed, you can get them at argos.

Baby Bjorn is definitely the best one we've used and was worth the extra money.

Haven't had any problems with the Mothercare own travel cot. Got it half price, find it easy to put up/take down, and my child seems to sleep well in it.

Buy the absolute cheapest you can for £15-20 and then spend the savings on a decent extra mattress. We got a coir one made up. That's what we did and ended up using it as a main cot, which has the added benefit of making sleep transitions extremely easy when staying away from home.

Should add we got ours half price, I wouldn't have paid £60 for it when you can get a perfectly adequate one for £30.

Little life arc. It was dc3's primary cot from about 1st birthday and moved location with us once every 2 or 3 weeks, each time requiring a flight. We stopped moving about a year ago and she still sleeps in it every night as it's the perfect mosquito net bed.

I should say that's now about 2.5 years of every day use
