Hey all,
I’m thinking of getting a drop down cot rather than a cotbed. The only ones I’ve seen so far are the John Lewis ones and wanted to know whether there are any others that may be recommended.

They really aren't recommended anymore. Lots of serious injuries and fatalities. Really not worth the risk

In the UK and Europe they are allowed: it’s the US where they stopped them being sold as they have different manufacturing regulations.

They are perfectly safe when manufactured to European standards (like te John Lewis one) and there is literally nothing about it that makes it unsafe: the design of the one to which you refer it would be impossible to cause any damage to a baby as the drop isn’t actually that far and even if the latch broke and it dropped it’s a case of a few inches so not enough for a baby to fall out of either.

We have the drop side John Lewis cot and no issues: although we only used the drop side mechanism for about two months! The time that it was useful is quite short (e.g. baby quickly starts standing up to be picked up)
