Cots and beds

Fence for single bed on the floor?

I am expecting my 2nd baby in 5 weeks and my DD is 13 months old. She is not an amazing sleeper in general, and loves playing with my hair/sleeping with me, but she does sleep in her own bed mostly. We've been debating whether to get her a cot bed, and while on holiday have found that putting her on a single bed with someone reading/lying next to her works pretty well. The only thing is that she is little enough that I would like her to be fenced in a bit, rather than being able to get up and out of bed whenever she wants to.

Is there any sort of invention that is basically like a fence around a single bed on the floor? Or is it just a cot bed or a single bed with a rail?

I think that if you have the space for the cot, you'd be better off sticking with it, especially with only 5 weeks to go to the new baby. Your DD may be unsettled by the baby and any changes now may make matters worse. Also, having an enclosed place where you can be sure she's safe will be very useful. I was certainly very glad to have my older DD still sleeping in her cot after my DS was born. Good luck!
