toddler bed or straight to a single?

our dd is use to co sleeping in our double bed, she is 18 minths old now and we are going to buy her a bed (and try to get her to sleep in it) she would never sleep in a cot, she slept in her crib when she was very little though. I am not sure whether to bother with a toddler bed and go straight for a single ( it would have to be low though) our bed is almost on the floor so it's ok if she was to fall out.
What did you do?
thanks

Went straight to a single. Put the cot mattress by it for the first few nights. Think they only fell out once though.

straight to single

few pillows along the floor incase they fall out but don't see the point of toddler beds, they are out of them so quickly

We co slept until 18 months with our dd. She actually feared her cot and would have extreme tantrums if we ever tried to put her in it even to play.

We were planning to buy a single when my mum reminded me that the cot was actually also a toddler bed. So we thought we would try it first before single.

Anyway she loves it. Goes to bed no problems. Loves that it's 'her' bed and plays in it tucking all her teddys under the covers during the day. She only fell out once the first night and hasn't done it since.

Reading that back I guess i have no answered your question...but I can vote that toddler bed has worked for us for now.

We got this from IKEA - it's low to the floor, and extends from cot bed length to full single bed length (stopping in the middle too). It also has edges so we felt safer when he was younger in terms of not falling out.

DS started in the short mode (when he came out of his cot at first) and is now in full length mode aged 4.3yo

We plan to start with a mattress on the floor with DS2. Cheap, easy, sturdy and close to floor!
