Bunkbeds - easy to make

My DC (8 and 5) need to share a bedroom, not keen on bunkbeds because they currently have them and I'm moving out of marital home to move into my new flat with them (my DC that is). Anyway, my soon to be ex DH is keeping the current bunkbeds - Thuka, I think. I'd like to get them a single bed each, preferably a midsleeper or cabin, but they can be quite expensive. I'm willing to go down the bunkbed route, but I find them so difficult to make, change bedding etc. I usually end up breaking fingernails or bashing my head. I'm only 5 ft 2 and a real weakling so if there is a bunkbed out there that isn't difficult to make up in the mornings, I'd love to hear about it! Also, I get vertigo, so a bed I wouldn't have to climb up would be great. Cheers in advance for any advice.

I presume the 8 yo would be on the top bunk? If so could she not make it herself? My dd does her own and she is 5, she is on the top bunk also

I'm 39 weeks pg so haven't been able to climb up for a while now which is why I started getting her to do her own

OMG - why didn't I think of that?! Yes, she should be able to make it herself and certainly putting a duvet straight isn't hard work or putting on a fitted sheet for that matter. I tend to do all those things for my DC without thinking that they might be capable of some independence. Thanks, I do feel a bit stupid now...

Don't feel stupid! I do the same, my cousin is constantly reminding me that she's not 2 anymore! You just get into the habit of doing things...

We've been working on shoe laces as I can't bend very well right now but that's not going so well... She is good at doing her bed now though :)

Off topic - I do everything for my DD and she's 8 - you've opened up my eyes to delegating! I've just been googling L-shaped beds - like those best! BTW I was a mammoth at 39 weeks - couldn't even get out of the bath without help!

I've been struggling in the bath too Blush

L shaped beds? Like one bed for the two of them? Link?

Here's one: www.thekidswindow.co.uk/selling.asp?product=12263&category=900&source=froogle

Not good with links just yet, it's a Thuka, sold by the Kids Window - good for corners, space saving and all that!
