I actually think it’s quite scary and a bit strange the amount of people who are happy to have their human rights taken away.

For the record I’m fully vaccinated and I think that the vaccine is brilliant, but it is a medical procedure and I don’t think people that have made the decision not to have said medical procedure should then not be able to participate in society.

This is not at all normal, I can see the hospital beds are getting overwhelmed but this is likely because of viruses that haven’t been able to run through the population normally are making people very poorly.

Which means that this will happen every winter forevermore if we don’t let humans, vaccinated or not just get on with life.

No one has ever said they're happy for their human rights to be taken away 🙄

In some countries this is absolutely normal and has been for a fair while before COVID.

There’s a pandemic. Extraordinary times and all that.

ChilliGoat Fri 03-Dec-21 01:29:55

If you’re as equally as concerned about the human rights being taken away by the new policing bill and the proposal to leave thr ECHR, then I’m all ears.

The scariest thing to me this time is that the government aren't even telling them to. Apart from masks the government haven't stood don't mix or don't go to pubs or cancel your office party or don't get the train. People are choosing to do those things off their own backs. That means no government assistance for the businesses that go under when everyone cancels their Christmas plans.

Or maybe it’s because of Covid? confused You know, this virus still doing the rounds? With different mutations than we saw last winter?

Coviddy Fri 03-Dec-21 01:41:40

Which Human rights are you referring to exactly?

Biology not a strong subject at school, OP?

Fleur405 Fri 03-Dec-21 02:00:10

(a) no one has a human right to go to a Christmas party (b) most human rights are not absolute but subject to reasonable/proportionate restrictions in the public interest.

Im unclear what human rights you are talking about.

As for your assertion that the problem with hospitals is due to non- COVID virus:, do you have any evidence for this?

What do you mean, elaborate please?

milkyaqua Fri 03-Dec-21 04:22:50

I agree OP

Boatingforthestars Fri 03-Dec-21 05:10:00

I agree too OP.

I saw on the news yesterday that Germany wanted to ban unvaccinated people from shops or restaurants. This is slowly turning into a dictatorship, and the scary thing is we have been gaslighted into thinking this I'd normal. Some people are actually calling for things like this to happen, who in their right mind wants people banned from shops because of their choices about their own body.

To all the people saying its because of the pandemic, do you not watch the news? Deaths are down, hospitalisations are also down, so why the hysteria?

That's without me even getting started on covid passports, all the conspiracy nuts have been saying for years "they" will soon have us carrying ID card with us everywhere we go, we aren't too far away from that now with covid passports.

Cascascascas Fri 03-Dec-21 05:13:05

@NearlyDown

Rights taken away. What utter nonsense.
And hopefully over time it’s becoming like a flu but as people have had it etc.

Ps wearing a mask is not a big chore and basically people who moan about it get some back bone FFS.

Do you not read the news? Deaths are not down in Germany, they are rising, and hospitalisations are definitely not down, or they would not be considering these regulations.

A lot of ghd overcrowding in hospitals is due to lack of carers not covid. My dad spent 24days in hospital, 11 of those were waiting for a care home place to be found. Now, just a few weeks layer, colleagues a work colleagues mum is in exactly the same position. She only needed to be in hospital a couple of days and it's coming up 2 weeks.

NearlyDown, a little more reading is required. Just a little more. (Hint: it's a different reason to what you think.)

User63896578 Fri 03-Dec-21 05:40:49

Hospitals are full of bed blockers now because of the care system, something needs to be done about care or this won't change, these people will also be vulnerable to covid which they are more likely to pick up in hospital

PanettoneSeason Fri 03-Dec-21 06:12:42

@NearlyDown Depends of these people who have chosen not to have the vaccine are being otherwise sensible or not. I have one member of staff in a small team of 6 who believes that covid is a government conspiracy 🙄 shes 100% anti-vax and will happily argue with anyone and everyone over it. All fine, completely her right to choose. However, she also doesn’t believe in testing or isolating and sent her son to primary school and she went to work despite them nothing having a temperature and feeling under the weather. She was only in work a few hours before this being realised and her being sent home and she managed to pass it on to two other people - one of whom was very ill and also managed to pass it to her own husband and children.

You sound like the type who "researches" using Facebook and twitter tbh.

Staryflight445 Fri 03-Dec-21 06:18:11

You’re not having any rights taken away.
It’s like saying you’re taking peoples rights away for not letting them drive without a driving licence.

Sometimes we have to do something we don’t want to, to do what we want to do. That is life and won’t change.

We’re in a pandemic, people can make their own choices.

TheSandgroper Fri 03-Dec-21 06:25:24

I don’t get it. You know there are people in iron lungs, don’t you? When Salk and Sabin came on the market, I don’t think anyone asked about human rights. They just took the first vaccination offered to them.

You do know, don’t you, that polio hasn’t died out? It’s just held at bay. Look around you. How many people with it do you see? Do you not realise that everyone who follows an approved vaccination schedule from birth receives a vaccination for polio? And diphtheria? And a whole heap of others? Look up post-polio syndrome. Some of the effects can be life long.

You are living your comfortable life safe because others before you did the hard work. Now, it’s our turn.

Walkaround Fri 03-Dec-21 06:29:31

You’ve also had your “human right” not to pay tax taken away. And your right to drink and drive. And your right to smoke in the pub. And your right to drive uninsured. And your right to go to school within 48 hours of vomiting and diarrhoea. Shocking stuff. What is the world coming to?

Sparklingbrook Fri 03-Dec-21 06:30:26

The Coronavirus topic gets more ridiculous by the day.
