Anyone else fancy a grouch at having Covid? I’m a few days in, feeling like crap and fed up with the world in general.

Tea and sympathy to anyone in a similar position?

We’re on day 7 here, all four of us have it (2 adults 2 dc) despite the adults being double vaccinated - and it’s been rubbish. Aches, shivers, pains, sweating, sore throat, fuzzy head, fatigue. Headaches so bad they woke me up crying. Nausea, diarrhoea, shakiness. All the symptoms!

Feeling a bit better the last couple of days though, fingers crossed you will too x

Everyone in our family has it. I'll start with counting my blessings. Me and dh feel awful but the 3 kids are fine, thank goodness. Even CV DD. We've a house full of food and entertainment and full pay from work.

Now for my whinge. Our new very lively rescue dog is understandably struggling with no walks and needs constant entertainment when all I want to do is curl up in bed. And it finally seems to be dawning on the powers that be, that it might not be a brilliant idea to allow covid to rampage through schools. If they'd cottoned on to this about 3 weeks ago we might have avoided catching it.

Dh got it first from school and then gave it to me. We’re double vaccinated and have been really careful so it feels totally unfair, especially since we’re in one of the areas badly affected by the Immensa lab cock up. I guess counting my blessings I had chance to get a massive shop in so there are some treats. My appetite has disappeared for almost the first time ever so I can’t really comfort eat. Throat feels like a cheese grater has been at it, nose is running like a tap, everything aches and I’ve got zero energy.

Sorry to everyone else suffering and sending sympathetic thoughts your way!

I've huge sympathies for anyone who works in a school Purple. It really does feel like they've been hung out to dry with the lack of protection they've been given.

We've also been super careful because of DD who has a history of hospital admission with her asthma, usually triggered by a cough or a cold. Ironically she was the one who caught it first and has only had a slightly sore throat. She was vaccinated though which I'm sure helped.

Me and dh were also double jabbed which is also something to be thankful for. Dread to think what it would be like otherwise.

Me too, day 6 for me! Definitely the illest I have ever been, its really bowled me over. 11 month old got it two days ago, and DH just had a positive test today. All fun and games here!! We will also be struggling with a dog who needs walking.

Luckily have a ocado coming later, although I've lost my sense of taste, so I can't even comfort eat! Very upsetting.

Hope everyone else feels better soon

I feel the same, been really surprised at how ill I am, and so thankful it wasn't pre vaccination

Me too. I was expecting a positive lft with no symptoms and ten days at home painting the living room. I feel dreadful.

I'm right at the start of it all. Positive LFT last night but only a faint positive. Booked PCR for today and symptoms started during the night - headache, cough, shaking, slight temperature. Took another LFT this morning which came up positive instantly. Was kind of hoping they would be false positives and my symptoms were just a psychological thing. Not sure I will be that lucky. I'm dreading feeling worse

Positive LFT Monday morning, 2 screaming red lines, PCR due to arrive today. Double jabbed, but even so, I'm totally mutilated.

Maybe this should be the new public health campaign:

If you’re double vaccinated you can still catch Covid and it will make you feel like shit. You won’t go to hospital but you won’t move from the sofa for days on end and you’ll send your own body weight in tissues to landfill.

I've had 4 positive lfts last night (couldn't believe it after being so so careful.) Waiting for my pcr to come back.

Had a niggly sore throat on Sunday, worse yesterday and same today. I feel knackered today but could be because I barely slept. Just praying it doesn't get too bad.

I really feel for teaching staff. My dh is in emergency services and has had to go in today. Just seems counter productive to stopping the spread doesn't it.

Maybe the campaign should include 'don't laugh at what people put on MN as it will trigger a painful coughing fit'. Never knew MN could be so hazardous to my health 😂

That sound exactly the same as me. I felt really smug I’d avoided it up to now. Not so much any more!

Absolutely. I know there was a recent study showing household transmission was only 25% if both double vaccinated but my experience round here is that one person gets it and then everybody else in there house does over the next week or so. I wonder if that’s because we’re in an area with high delta+ prevalence which is even more transmissible.

You have obviously never read a burns advice thread…deadly! I’m exactly the same with laughing. Not coughing really but my chest is tight.

I'm day 4 and feeling very lucky that so far have only a slight cough and lost my sense of smell. Husband is day 9 and been very ill since the start so thankful I've been able to look after him. Ds has managed to avoid it so far but I'll be surprised if he doesn't test positive in the next day or so as he's needed lots of cuddles off me as been upset at how poorly dh has been. Hope everyone feels better soon.

@dane8 I get terrible joint aches and huge swollen glands whenever I catch something (I have an autoimmune condition) and co-codomol helps. Your local pharmacy might be able to deliver some? If swallowing really hurts then you can dissolvable ones.

Just about out the other side now, been out of isolation since Sunday and now back in the office. I was the last in the household to go down with it. Three frickin' weeks in a row of self-isolation, because I started when DD first got ill!

Still feeling knackered and walking to work has made my legs feel like I've run a marathon; I think I was starting to get minor muscle wastage from just sitting on my arse!

I had most of the usual symptoms but think I got off fairly lightly - the weirdest illness I've had in living memory but far from the worst. Still have no sense of smell though, almost two weeks after testing positive. It's been really upsetting, no joy in food/drink anymore. Keeping everything crossed that I'm one of the lucky ones and it will come back soon and without taking a detour through parosmia first!

Sending best wishes to all currently feeling rubbish. Hope you get well soon.

It does seem bonkers that you can go out and about if double jabbed while your house is riven with covid. DD tested positive first and the rest of us had negative PCRs so were told we could go about our lives as normal. We decided that we'd all isolate instead. Hopefully that's saved several onward transmissions as DH would have been at the football and the kids hanging round with their mates if we'd carried on as normal.

DD12 tested positive on Saturday and is currently blasting out sweet child of mine on the karaoke. DD9 tested positive this morning and is so incredibly poorly, shivering, vomiting, high temp, restless, it's awful. I'm full of cold but currently testing negative. There's a woman on another thread I'm on claiming normally healthy children don't get poorly from Covid - well I beg to differ!!

Day 4 here. Started with runny nose, sneezing, sinus pressure and full ears. Slight cough yesterday and really tight chest. Getting out of breath very easily. Lost smell today and most of taste. Starting to feel sorry for myself :(

Aw, chaos that sounds rotten. Flowers I chopped a butternut squash for dinner and that was like a full body workout.
