What an odd article, of course there isn’t an exception for people getting married, why would there be?
I don’t have the app, so have no issue with people getting rid of it, but of course there isn’t going to be a specific exception.

My understanding is the app isn't legally binding but if you get contacted directly by t&t to isolate that is legally enforceable.
So I'd probably delete the app and avoid being in a situation where I could be a contact 10 days prior

Not everyone who is exposed gets it, that isn't proof the app is inaccurate.

I agree, but also I can't believe that people would even consider cancelling their wedding the day before on the say-so of an app which has proved to be unfit for purpose.

If I was getting married I would have turned off contact tracing or deleted the app to ensure this wouldn’t happen!

I’m NHS so never have it on at work but have turned it off for the past couple of weeks and will keep it off. I do LFT’s frequently, don’t see many people apart from at work with PPE and I am going away in a week so don’t want to get pinged for no reason.

Obviously if or someone else in the house developed symptoms I would isolate.

Except it's not. People being pinged through walls/when they're already isolating shows that.

I’m also astounded that far more people haven’t deleted the app. Reading the numbers of people getting pinged, that’s all I can think about! Maybe people are hoping for time off work but then do they get paid if isolating? Who are all these people who diligently use this app and respond to the pings by shutting their lives down for ten days? Some people yes but I’m astounded that millions of people are doing this. If it was proven in any way to help then of course but it’s causing chaos and cases are still rising fast. I had it very briefly And quickly got rid of it, and overall I’m a very diligent and responsible Covid rule follower. I do wfh which I think affects my risk assessment but still. I’m stunned.

What an odd inference to draw. You wrote that the app is doing it's job. This is manifestly not the case, unless you think the intention of the app was to ping people in situations like that. It's a fact that the app itself is a problem, and has been for sometime.

If it was proven in any way to help then of course but it’s causing chaos and cases are still rising fast. how can you think that isolating if you are in close contact with a Covid case DOESN’T stop the spread? You can look at any bloody graph and see the impact of reduced contact. It’s a virus that spreads through contact.

That's not what I said. It's rather more nuanced than "people who don't have the app don't care about covid"

My brother was pinged even though he works from home, is the most anti-social person ever so had not spent 5 minutes in anyone else's company, never mind 15! The only people he had seen was at my house, and none of us have had covid (that we know of)

He does live in a block of flats though so I assume somebody in the flats maybe tested positive? Under those circumstances I would 100% ignore.
