Why are retailers/ app fail now not jan?

Does anyone not find this odd.
In jan we had 60k cases
Now we 40 to 50k cases.
Its all about pingdemic and bringing essential retail like food and garages to their knees.
Essential retail was open in lockdown.
We had less people jabbed.
Why was there no pingdemic then?

I admit the app has its faults.
However increase in pings is due to increase in infection and then we remove masks and scrap social distancing so under plus rules distance and time with person meant difference between isolating as close contact and catching the virus.
Well that was case in schools.

Do we think government will scrap the app which was Hancock baby and move no isolating forward from 16th August due to business leaders pressure?

Or just like schools and keyworker make everyone a keyworker excempt from isolating like sending 70% kids to school during lockdown.

Science is being ignored.
News estimate i think app in its time I assume prevented 900k cases.

Only 50% of my city is currently double jabbed many not even had 1st doses.
So chances are lots still be isolating end if August and September.

Lots media newspaper reports showing shortage of food in bigger chains supermarkets yet my local aldi and morrisions have plenty of food.

Its mixed messaging from government on the app and lots cant afford self isolate.
The media clearly want the app gone as do business leaders.

Because we were in lockdown in January, so many people were staying at home, so nowhere near as many people were close contacts of positive cases.

There’s much more mixing now than in January when there were stricter rules in place. I’d have thought that was obvious. That’s why the increase in pings. Vaccination status is totally irrelevant to getting pinged.

All the People in the past saying we shouldn't lockdown, this was one of the concerns, that everything would grind to halt because of the amount of people unwell/isolating. It doesn't matter really is we stop close contact isolation, so many people are going to be positive it is going to have a knock on affect.

But the case numbers similar or higher.
The people off work food retail went to work in January.
Lots people in lockdown still went food shopping..

Nhs and teacher have worked throughout I don't remember as many schools staff being off then than last month of summer term.

I know different varient and maybe this is sign how transmissible it is if lots shop workers now have covid.

Obviously hospitality and non essential shut.
But all the news talks about garages and food retail as well as nhs.

The more close contacts you have, the more people will be alerted by the app or contactes by t&t. People have more close contacts now because we're not in lock down.

I'm going a lot more places than I was in Jan. Jan I was literally working at home and getting shopping delivered. Now I am going to peoples houses/pubs/office etc . Of course it's more likely I will be pinged.

It’s not that easy to get pinged food shopping. You’re not likely to be close to people for long enough.

Compare that with socialising in people’s houses, or coffee shops, or on crowded public transport etc which are all happening now.

I agree with you close contacts you can navigate from 16th if you double jabbed or daily testing.
If you have covid you can't.
Thats why deaths and hospitalisation were daft sole measure.

We know double jabbed people can transmit and catch the virus.
You can also catch covid more than once.

I guess I should reframe my post work place transmissible ie in supermarkets/ schools /- hospitals on the increase or is it all these pepper are socialising and mixing outside of work and getting pinged that way.

Well, if you woked in Tesco you've been going all along, but those who worked at Zara, or argos, etc, probably weren't. So the volume at work have increased. They are also probably socialising more, and in some cases with workmates- popping out for a drink after a shift. The supermarkets and essential stores are also probably busier, as whole families are back doing a shop again, not just one parent, so much more of a chance to get a ping.

Because the weather is sunny. Neither your nor I know who has and who has not been pinged. I suspect there is no actual proof of being pinged, work certainly cannot ask for proof of pinging (and why were we all not pinged too?) A week off anyone?
