Announcement tomorrow?

Is there any definite plan for a formal announcement tomorrow of the plans for the next step? I haven't seen anything, just curious what time it will be (as that often indicates whether it will be major news or not!)

There should be one tomorrow shouldn't there? As it's a week before 21st June so they should be letting us know if restrictions will be ending.

@Bordois

They're usually at 5pm

Except the one with major changes (like when we went in to lock down) which have been at 8.

Yeah, that's what I'm expecting, just hadn't seen anything saying if they've confirmed there will be one, or at what time.

They do often make a statement to the House around 3pm. So there could be something similar.

I think it depends upon the level of consensus, they could be deciding right up until the last minute.

Guessing Boris will be on his podium at 5pm. If we want to know sooner, we can check out the House of Commons live.

Next big announcement is expected on 28th, to see if the whole country is moving down to level 0. HTH.

We're going to be in restrictions till next spring, whatever they say tomorrow.

On the news last night they more or lest said that restrictions would be in place for a further 4 weeks at least.

Restrictions till next spring, I don't think people will actually stick with.

I'm actually losing track of what we're allowed to do and what not Confused

There was always an announcement planned tomorrow as part of the roadmap.

The text should be ' sorry, everyone - I didn't listen about the cases in India, refused to shut the borders, pandered to my corrupt colleagues and as a result cases are rocketing so we cant end restrictions'.

Ideally followed by ' I am doing the decent thing and resigning'.

Yeah, right...

It won’t be at 8pm - it’s been agreed not to clash with the football, according to the Times last week. It’ll be announced in Parliament, I suspect, and then at 5pm… but there doesn’t seem to be any question that it’s being delayed.

I know they don't have to pass a vote, but say there was massive, massive dissent in cabinet and the House. Could they still mandate the delay?

There will always be something though. Now Raab is suggesting until all adults have had two doses. So that's September. But then of course we're into autumn, can't have the NHs overwhelmed with breakthrough infections, so then it's till spring.
Then, of course, since clearly the entire world isn't going to be vaccinated any time soon, there will be a new variant to worry about so that'll scupper that.
And there will still be people earnestly pointing out how necessary it all is and various members of Indy Sage predicting catastrophe.

The gov saves the major and/or shit news for an 8pm briefing.

You don’t know that , as soon as everyone has has had both vaccine there is no need to keep restrictions.

We've all been primes to accept a delay of up to 4 weeks though, so I doubt there will be any surprises.

I'd like to see soccer being the casualty of scheduling alterations. It would be a refreshing change!

I reckon Cabinet or COBRA in the morning, statement to the House in the afternoon (probably at 3pm) and evening address to the nation

Actually I'm thinking 7:00 pm most likely if match starts at 5 and then next match at 8 or a lot won't watch it.
