Jab after effects timing

LividJabber · 19/04/2021 18:41

Hi, can anyone tell me the sort of timeframe I can expect if I’m going to suffer after effects from the jab?

I’m a teacher, have my jab on Wednesday at 4pm and it would be impossible to do anything about it if I was to start feeling rough part way through Thursday...

I had mine at 9am on the weds, started to feel shivery in the evening. Felt like I had a bad hangover the next day, and a really sore arm. I didn't feel completely right again for about 5 days. I was well enough for work on the Friday though.
My husband had no side effects at all.

I had AZ last Wednesday at 9.20am and I felt tired a couple of hours later (probably not that unusual to be fair), then around 7pm later that day I started to feel rough (cold, aching and generally yuk). I went to bed at 10, woke up the next day at 9am feeling almost 100% better (just had a sore arm). So for me I was recovered within 24 hours, worse bit was about 10-12 hours after. I think everyone will be different though. Good luck!

I had mine Sunday lunchtime. All fine until today until late morning when I had a high temperature. Feeling alot better this evening.

I had mine at 2.30pm on Saturday. By 3am on Sunday I had a temp of 39.5 and felt dreadful. I have had to take today off work and will return tomorrow although I still don’t feel that great - headache, lethargic, dizzy when I walk around.

My experience was vaccination Sunday 9am, headache and fever started 4pm. Horrible sleepless night last night, but have managed a normal day's activity today, but nothing too demanding. Would have struggled a lot with a full teaching day today. Took paracetamol at 6 hour intervals from the first symptom. Exhausted now, but hoping a decent night's sleep will sort me out tonight.

I had mine at 12pm on a Monday by 11pm that night I felt a bit cold, by 1am I had a temp of 38.6 and couldn't stop shivering. Felt like I had flu. Was like that until 3pm on the Wednesday when it all suddenly stopped. Wasn't able to get out of bed on the Tuesday other than to use the toilet. I am 40 if that makes any difference as both my parents who are 70 and 67 had no side effects at all.

Ugh.

Essentially I'll need to know I'll be ill in time to plan cover for Thursday, when I have a crazy day plus two essential meetings, or not be ill at all.

Looks like people are feeling it at about 12 hours post-jab, which would put me at about 4am...

I had mine at midday yesterday/ by 11pm had flu like symptoms and had a really awful night. I somehow went to work this morning (as a teacher) but left at lunchtime. Slept all afternoon until I picked my daughter up from school and back in bed now.

I’d honestly have some cover work ready for your class x

I had AZ last week and no side effects at all. My arm is a bit tender if I touch it now which is odd as it was okay for the first 3 days.

I had mine early afternoon on the Monday and was fine till teatime on the Tuesday. You should be able to reschedule.

Had mine in the afternoon on a Saturday and had a horrendous night . Spent Sunday in bed because I felt so rough.

LividJabber · 19/04/2021 19:06

I asked about potential rescheduling as I already have to miss a meeting on Wednesday pm to get it, but in my area supply is sketchy apparently and there isn't another clinic day guaranteed.

The woman on the phone basically suggested if I didn't take this one, I might not get it for a while, (and I don't want to face all those kids with their noses poking out of their masks without being jabbed any longer than I really have to!)

I had mine yesterday (Sunday) at noon. Other than being quite tired (but could be due to a super busy weekend and lots of late nights) I haven’t had any noticeable side effects. But I guess they could still come.

I had AZ and I got side effects exactly 12 hours afterwards. It was then very bad (flu, shaking chills, headache, nausea) for 12 hours and still a bit rough for a further 24 hours. All over by 48 hours post jab.

daryldixonsdreamgirl · 19/04/2021 19:11

My side effects kicked in around 10 hours after and then lasted 48 hours or so.

I felt rough for a short period between 12 and 18 hours after my jab. I was glad
It was night time! But was able to get up and go to work the next day. It’s the timing of the jab that might cause you issues

Had AZ vaccine Saturday morning and waited....but no fever, no temperature. Very very very slightly sore arm after 24 hours. Not affected my life these past few days. Mid-40’s. I promise I’m not being paid by Boris Grin

AZ or Moderna?

AZ worse side effects - if you get any -are after the first jab.

Moderna or any mRNA vaccines the side effects - if you get them - are after the second jab.

My DP didn't get any side effects from AZ there as I did.

I would ask if you can postpone your observation tbh.
I had mine on a Friday and slept most of the weekend, but if they had been work days I could have got through them (but not at full competency). I had my second jab on Saturday, slept a bit on Sunday and was fine today.

Don’t know which, @RedMarauder, but presume it’ll be AZ.
