2nd dose people - how long was gap between first and second jab?

WombatChocolate · 15/04/2021 15:50

Realise those who book via national booking system tend to book 2nd at same time, between 11 and 12 weeks.

Those invited by GP led services tend to get called back and given the appointment not long before the 2nd jab. Just wondered how long your gap between jabs ended up being please? And did you hear much before the actual 2nd appointment?

I’m asking because I’m hearing 2nd jabs are often being brought forward but just wondered how common that is and also if it varies according to which jab you received.

Thanks.

I was booked through the GP and got my 2nd appointment at the same time as my first.
It was 10 weeks between each one.

I am having my 2nd AstraZeneca jab tomorrow which is 8 and a half weeks after my first! I was a bit concerned about it being too soon, but all I can find when I research this is that the 2nd should be given within 4 and 12 weeks. I had my first at my GP hub and they sent a text to arrange my 2nd. I am only 51 but received my jab early due to an underlying health condition. My husband who is 66 had his 2nd Pfizer jab last week, again with an 8 week gap at the same surgery. Our surgery have been ahead on vaccinations all the way through.

I wish I knew! I was called by my GP and had my first dose on 13 February. Had the Oxford AZ one. DH had the Pfizer one 4 days later, also through the GP, and he hasn't heard anything yet either.

12 weeks for us would be around mid-May, but I'm hoping we'll hear sooner than that, given they've said that the focus in April is on second doses.

I was booked via GP and so waiting for 2nd.
I’m not worried about not knowing yet and hoping that because it hasn’t been booked, there might be more flexibility and I might get called closer to the 8-9 weeks than the 11-12 weeks.
I guess it will depend on what supply is like for 2nd doses and how many my local area have to get through, whether I’m called into an earlier session or wait until the 11-12 week mark.

Thanks for the answers so far.

Seems a bit down to where you live. Here in N Wales, Pfizer =6/7 weeks and AZ is 10/11 weeks

AZ 11 weeks exactly between doses.
Got my first vaccine at work (hub) and had to chase up the second. My GP wasn't aware they needed to offer me it as it was done through another surgery.
I eventually got it via my G.P but for about a week I had nowhere willing to give me my jab as nowhere thought it was down to them.
If I hadn't been proactive I'd still be waiting now...

Having 2nd AZ next week, which will be 10 weeks after the first jab.
I got the text invite two days ago, choice of 4 locations and could have booked in for yesterday at a clinic further away.

I had my first AZ dose on 27th February. I had been texted by my GP's surgery and given the link to book it at our local hub.

I haven't heard anything yet about my second dose and wasn't given any information when I was at the hub. I suppose 12 weeks comes up in late May but I hope to have heard before then.

13 weeks! The GP forgot to call me back and I struggled to get through for almost two weeks before someone picked up the phone Hmm

My parents hit the 12 week point on Monday. They haven't heard anything yet. My mum said the GP receptionist "sounded shifty on the phone"

PrincessNuts, they should definitely call again tomorrow and not be fobbed off.

If I haven’t heard by 11 weeks I will be ringing every day If necessary.

Parents had Pfizer and got called back for second after about 9 weeks, but it was literally a call from the doctor "can you get here in the next twenty minutes as we have spare doses" so I assume it was earlier than planned.

Exactly 12 weeks AZ

Report
Jo99996 · 15/04/2021 19:35

My parents had their first one on 9th Feb and were called to go in today for their second, so about 9 weeks.

Dozens of people there this time and badly organised. Last time was much better with just minimal people each appointment. Seems they are getting the 2nd doses in before AZ gets banned and there surgery can claim their twelve pounds.

My parents had their second AZ last week exactly 11 weeks from their first, think they got a text a week or two prior to that from their GP with the appointment. My friend also had hers at the weekend at the same gap with a different GP in our town

12 weeks Pfizer

Report
Jerble · 15/04/2021 20:01

Most people I know are having theirs at 11-12 weeks so far, both Pfizer and AZ. They are getting worried at around 10-11 weeks then got the appointment invite with actual appointment in the next few days (sometimes next day). I’m volunteering at a clinic and the vaccine deliveries are quite unpredictable so they can’t book people in for appointments until vaccine is definitely coming otherwise it causes more problems and disappointment having to cancel on people.

Pfizer - 9 1/2 weeks.
It was brought forward as they rearranged clinic dates.

My parents have a lot of faith in "Boris's" vaccine rollout and we're sure they'd hear in plenty of time. It's only now that they are days away from passing the 12 week point that they've become worried about being missed out somehow.

Mum has emailed the doctor at their surgery who is a director of something involved with the vaccine rollout and had their picture in the paper, given them all the dates and times and asked for a straight answer.

And just to clarify they will hit 12 weeks next Monday, not they have hit it last Monday so fingers crossed they hear tomorrow.

I’d still be ringing rather than waiting all day for an email which might not come.

Hope it gets sorted for them. Perhaps they will receive a weekend appointment.
