Covid

NHS vaccine records and invitations are inaccurate

Hi, I am 39 and got invited by text for my vaccine earlier than expected, 4 weeks ago. My DH is 46 and hasn’t been invited yet. I asked about this when I went for my jab and I am down as clinically vulnerable apparently. I wasn’t aware I was CV but maybe there is something on my health record that makes the computer think I am (recent pregnancy, a few operations, removal of appendix, some fruit and nut allergies)? My BMI is not high (I am slightly overweight but not obese). Anyway they gave me the jab.

Other friends who had the jab were told to book their 2nd dose in online. I wasn’t told to do this but was afraid of missing the boat with the 2nd dose if I didn’t get it booked in, given that everyone seems to be doing this, so entered my NHS number to book my second one and it says I need to book 2 jabs as I missed my first! So I am not sure my first jab was properly recorded (I do have a vaccine card) or how I set this straight as it is just an automated website, there is no number to call to discuss etc. It will allow me to book two jabs as if I never had that first one. Do I just book them both in, go along to the first appointment and then correct them there and get my 2nd dose, then cancel the latter appointment that I then won’t need as I will have had 2 jabs by then?

There is a number isn't there? I thought 119 was for all things covid and jab related if you're in England

I havent rung it but it's all over the place as the covid number

I wouldn't worry, the website said off missed my first dose but hadn't. I think their website is goosed.

The website isn't updated with who has had their jab or not, it only holds booking details of those who book through the website if you see what I mean. So I had mine through the website, and the only way it 'knew' I had my first is as I booked it through the website. You will receive a text a week or so before your second one is due if you had it at a GP hub. The CV thing is odd if you aren't aware of any conditions?

Oh cool, will try 119, thanks. I feel like maybe my first jab was meant for someone else as they seemed to think I have an underlying health condition (but I don’t, at least not that I am aware of) so by getting it incorrectly, it has somehow screwed up the system

That makes sense, @Tallybo about the system not knowing if I have had a jab yet or not.
Yeah I have been racking my brains to try to figure out what is making my health record look CV but there is nothing obvious so I expect it is just an accident that I was invited early.

The first jab I had was at a small local hospital, which happens to be across the road from my GP surgery - would this count as a GP hub?

Did you have gestational diabetes during your pregnancy at all? That seems to be a trigger for a lot of people

Report
Covidconfuse · 13/04/2021 06:30

@JustLyra no I didn’t have GD when pregnant (the nurse who jabbed me asked me that too when we were trying to fathom why I got invited). All very odd.

I think maybe they have an incorrect weight or height down on my health record or something which is making my BMI seem higher than it is

The not knowing why you've been invited bit is very common as there's been loads of threads about it. The general view seems to be not to worry about it. There are bound to be some anomalies in the system that's catering for the whole population.

Yes @AllThatFancyPaintsAsFair not surprising that errors happen. I looked up that 119 number and it seems to be more about covid testing than vaccines?

If you were invited by text, was it through your GP surgery? If so it’s best to have your second jab through your surgery too, rather than book it through the national website and have it at a hub. Where i live, people using the hubs seem to book both appointments at once, and people having it through their GP tend to be invited to book their second jab through another text, a couple of weeks before the second jab is due.

Yes it sounds like it, and as you were invited by text. They send the link the book usually a week or two before it's due, if they don't you can phone the GP anyway so try not to worry. It sounds like an error but every jab in an arm is good!

119 is for both testing and vaccination queries. If you call it you'll go through an automated menu which will direct you speak to someone about vaccinations.

The booking system DOES know of you've had your jabs or not. I've had both of mine through work so didn't use the national booking system at all but was testing whether it would let me book my jabs as a late 40's person (after reading a thread on here that said it was letting people of that age book). Obviously I wasnt going to book anything - just seeing if it would let me. Anyway, it came up with a message saying I had had both jabs so it definitely does know.

Would your full term pregnancy weight have a bmi over 40?

I see @UselessTrees has already answered this. I certainly thought it was for both types of queries.

Over 45s can book online now without a GP referral

Report
endofthelinefinally · 13/04/2021 09:29

It is entirely dependent on how you arranged your appointment for your first jab and which vaccine you had. 119 cannot deal with pfizer vaccination or GP arranged appointments.
All vaccine doses are recorded on GP records, so an email to your GP can remind them to send you a link to book your second dose.
If you had AZ at a hub the 119 service can book your second dose.

Thanks everyone. I will wait for the text from my GP and not try to book through the national website. My DH (46) was able to book through the national website yesterday.

@HSHorror maybe - although I only recall them taking my weight at the beginning of my pregnancy, not the end

If you haven't heard from the GP in a few weeks, check the website again. I had mine done at a GP hub and couldn't book my second one online, but then I phoned the GP hub 10.5 weeks after my first to try and find out about my second. They had on their records that I'd had it done 17 days later than I actually had (no idea how) and therefore that I wasn't duem in desperation I tried the online service again that knew exactly when my first had been done, when my second was due and let me book it. No idea how the website knew if even the GP didn't

Thanks @muddledmidget good to know. Will keep an eye on it as my 2nd jab date approaches
