I'm not even in England (Scot) but I actually cried when he mentioned 21st June being a date where we may have actual normality.

I’m actually sat here with a lump in my throat. My dc are going back to school. My ds will get to enjoy his 16th birthday in the summer and I can take my little ones to soft play and the cinema. Over joyed.

Nightclubs opening!
I haven't been in twenty years but I might go this summer.

He is making it sound like it’s over, or will be over by June. Hope he’s right.

My mood has lifted instantly - I know there’s a way to go, but I’m delighted the kids can go back to school. They are too 🥰

It really does feel promising, I so hope this is it!

Looking at May half-term breaks now.....

I'm close to tears watching it. I think I didn't realise how much it was actually getting to me.

I just hope that this doesn't lead to everyone thinking it's over and gong back to normal too soon, we still have a ways to go

To echo others, I am also feeling very emotional watching this.

I need to get my fat ass on a diet!

Fucking hell. I've got something in my eye. I'm not crying.

It's very dependent on all sorts of reviews along the way of course. Unless people stick with the restrictions on an ongoing basis the roadmap won't work.

I'm not even watching, I'm just seeing the breaking news. I'll watch the PM later, and if I bump into him in a nightclub over the summer who knows what might happen

I hate to say it but Boris is looking and sounding almost statesmanlike!

This plan sounds excellent. Good balance between caution and the need to get the economy and society opened up again. The thought of a (near) normal summer makes me feel almost drunk with excitement!

So it looks like the thinking is we could be very much out of the woods by the June/July/August. So much for all the gloom mongers and their "we will never get our rights back" narrative!

Not getting my hopes up. Last year, Bojo said we'd be back to normal within 12 weeks. Then he said xmas. Now he says summer

Definitely an end in sight! My DD12 is so excited to get back to school! I just can’t wait to cuddle my granddaughter and my mum!
And get a hair cut....
And go to the pub...

Hoping everyone that’s been struggling can sleep a little easier tonight Flowers

For him to put a date thats only 16 weeks away, I feel the evidence on vaccine efficiency and transmission must be far better than we are being told so far... it really felt like he has put a potential end date on it :)

Was happy he said zero covid was never going to happen aswell as that was an obvious point that some on here didn't seem to understand.

I'm obviously really happy too, but we need keep in mind that all of this is dependent on the progress of new variants. I'm scared to get too excited only for all hopes to be dashed again...
