Should Lockdown be Extended Indefinitely to Prevent Long COVID'?

I've seen a few posts on twitter and media interviews over the last few days saying that lockdown and restrictions need to be extended indefinitely to 'prevent Long COVID'. These comments seem to be coming particularly from 'independent SAGE' types. Personally I had been under the belief that lockdown was a temporary measure with the clear objective of preventing hospitals being overwhelmed. That danger should recede over the next few months as vaccines are injected. 'Preventing Long COVID' and 'helping NHS staff' are wholly new justifications for lockdown. Are these really worth the damage lockdown causes in terms of health, the economy, poverty etc? This is one of the tweets I've seen https://twitter.com/chrischirp/status/1351652012446740483
