For the last 5 years Ds2 has been a Special Constable with the Met, Last weekend they went out in order to arrest a man who had broken his non molestation order (taken out by his ex-partner)
As they went to detain him he laughed and said "you shouldn't touch me I have covid"
Yes all three police who were in attendance have tested positive now, and he only gets a fine for breaking the non-mol order!
And

Surely if he knew he had covid and he's also out and about that's breaking the law, I'm sure there was something in all the messages I got when tested positive that said I could get fined. Absolute wanker. Hope it doesn't hit them all too hard Angry

My husband is in the same line of work.

We've learnt unfortunately it comes with the territory.

They deal with all sorts of unsavoury characters be they diagnosed or not and they aren't getting the vaccine despite being almost as in danger as the NHS workers - where's the justice?

Yeah I thought you could get fined £1000 for not self-isolating (and that's first offence).
Hope your son recovers soon

Really sorry for your DS and his colleagues, Hazelbite. I agree with the other posters that I thought it was an offence to threaten other people this way. At the very least, shouldn't he get a fine for not isolating?

And that's why the police should be one of the priority groups for the vaccine.

He should be fined for breaching isolation at the very least. Vile, despicable man. I hope your ds will be ok. I imagine at least youth is on his side.

Sorry to hear this, pretty sure this is very common sadly. DD works in a large trauma hospital. Over Christmas a young man and his cousin were involved in a RTA and ended up in the ICU.

Their entire extended family decamped for days in the Costa in the reception area (Costa was closed for Christmas). Both men were Covid positive and travellers so highly likely a number of their immediate family were also positive..

Even though they shouldn’t have been there, the hospital left them there because of the risk of transmission to themselves, security and possibly the police had they involved them to remove the families.

The police, like healthcare workers and teachers have a really difficult job and all should be prioritised for the vaccine.

It's awful OP, truly, and thank your son and his colleagues for everything they do. But, as the news said last night, up to 1 in 8 people in Greater London are thought to currently have Covid and it might not have been him. (Especially given the timeframe)
He's still a cunt obviously.
Warm wishes to your son. Flowers

@StatisticalSense

And yet teachers still think they should be prioritised over police for the vaccine.

I’m a teacher and I don’t think this.

OP-
I’m sorry this happened, I hope your DS makes a super speedy recovery and that fucker gets in trouble.

OP really sorry to hear about your ds. Can they not pursue any other charges for not isolating? Some people are shits.

Furious? Over reaction on your part. It’s the risk of doing his job. Yes he needs to isolate to prevent spread and will recover fully we expect.

Sorry to read this. Another reason why those who ignore rules over Covid should face proper justice not something akin to a parking fine.

Why we aren't prioritising all of our frontline keyworkers starting with the police is crazy. What will happen if you get large amounts of police isolating?
It's so stressful working in jobs like this during the pandemic and people who minimise this risk are likely to be those safely working from home.
